recstar24 Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 Just curious - tkam is already clue in my little poker hobby. If you are, what kind of games do you play, where, how much, etc.
deepak Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 We used to play once a week when I was in high school. We played pretty much every variant of poker (7 card, holdem, anaconda, low in the hole, roll your own, etc). Usually $10-15 buy in with 7-8 people, it was fun. I still play holdem with some "new" people I met, but that's pretty much all they play. Similar buy in, tourny rules. I've played a couple of times at the casino, real low limits like 2/4, it's not bad. My friend (one of the guys from high school that started the poker thing amongst us) played for a living for a couple of years. Either on partypoker or at Foxwoods, he averaged about $60k a year.
recstar24 Posted July 26, 2007 Author Report Posted July 26, 2007 Cool - my buddies play a tourney about once a month, 10-20 buy in. Played a lot when I was in vegas, just low limit stuff at 2/4 and 3/6. Have been playing online a lot as well.
deepak Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 Yeah low limits at a casino are fun, it's more laid back. Once you get to 10/20 or 20/40 that's where the guys that are playing for a living are.
deepak Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 I'm actually going to Foxwoods on Monday One of my friends took Monday off, it's just under 3 hours away. I'll probably play some 2/4 for a couple of hours but mostly will be playing craps with my friend (he must have a lucky rabbits foot up his ass)
JBLoudG20 Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 I'm actually going to Foxwoods on Monday No shit? Where are you from jpak? I'm fairly close to Foxwoods.
philodox Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 I've only played 2-3 times, but I always seem to clean up. Beginners luck I guess.
JBLoudG20 Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 My secret weapon resides in my pants. It strikes lust into the heart of any woman alive, and jealousy into a man's heart.
deepak Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 No shit? Where are you from jpak? I'm fairly close to Foxwoods. New Hampshire, I used to live in the Hanover/Lebanon area but now I'm just outside Concord. Were you at the last Boston meet? Where in CT are you? I was in New Haven for 5 weeks last year rotating at Yale New Haven Hospital.
JBLoudG20 Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 Nope I wasn't at the meet. I'm from Connecticut, Foxwoods is about a half hour from me, though I don't go there.
n_maher Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 Nope I wasn't at the meet. You coming to the next one?
JBLoudG20 Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 When is it?[me=JBLoudG20]checks HF now.[/me]
JBLoudG20 Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 Ah yes, Sunday the 26th. I remember seeing that. I can't as classes start the 27th, and I work right up until the 24th. I'll be moving into my apartment then. We (nate, jpak, and I, and others) should have a mini meet in your neck of the woods.
deepak Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 Right now it looks like I'm leaving New England before the Boston meet :/ I can attend a mini meet before that, I'm free every weekend except the first weekend in August.
JBLoudG20 Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 Leaving you cannot. NE will forever be in your heart. Except for our winters. I believe im good for the second weekend of August.
deepak Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 I love it here, unfortunately I also love warm weather Plus it's hard to turn down an incredibly good job offer, plus live close to my girlfriend's parents who have already started to help me look for an apartment.
JBLoudG20 Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 Oh I understand. As it looks now, I might be moving to NYC next year, which I have mixed feelings about. where are you moving to?
deepak Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 Dallas Ah yeah I was in NYC last year as well, roughly 5 weeks. I think it's a fun place to visit, I'd go crazy if I lived there.
grawk Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 If I were single I'd be living in nyc. No doubt in my mind. So much money to be made during the day, and so much fun to be had at night.
JBLoudG20 Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 But I'm not single. Well I guess technically cause I'm not married, but I've been with my g/f for 6 years. And yes, a lot of money to be made. too bad I have to spend so much of it to GET HERE! The commute is killing me. I'm actually pretty excited to move here just for that reason.

If you've been together for 6 years and aren't married, what are you waiting for? Shit or get off the pot.
JBLoudG20 Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 We are still too young, lol. I'll be proposing next year, likely. We started dating when she was 16 (I was 17). We are waiting to get our schooling complete (well for the most part, I'll still be in school for a while, but part-time while I work).
