The Monkey Posted November 9, 2009 Report Posted November 9, 2009 No, actually, never saw it. Bits and pieces, but...no, not really. Good stuff in a wonderfully cheesy kind of way.
Dusty Chalk Posted November 9, 2009 Report Posted November 9, 2009 Good stuff in a wonderfully cheesy kind of way.I will rent it for edification purposes. How faithful are they being to the original script? That whole "devotion" slant...was that brought out in the first episode of the original?
The Monkey Posted November 9, 2009 Report Posted November 9, 2009 Good question. iirc (it's been a while), the original mini-series was much more '80s camp than that. In other words, I don't recall much of a them other than, "whoa! Aliens!" That said, I think there probably is a fair amount of Cold War imagery in the old one. It's more good bad than actually good.
jinp6301 Posted November 9, 2009 Report Posted November 9, 2009 Season finale of Mad Men god, I love this show
laxx Posted November 9, 2009 Report Posted November 9, 2009 I'm so backed up on tv now. Watching Bones.
MexicanDragon Posted November 10, 2009 Report Posted November 10, 2009 V, Modern Family, House, Fringe, FlashForward, Dexter, Lie To Me, White Collar, Community, Glee, Cougar Town. Well, since V just came out I guess I'm not "watching" it as much as I "watched" it. Modern Family and Community are hilarious and I enjoy Cougar Town... has its moments. I like WhiteCollar, but it's not wowing me. Really liking FlashForward and Lie to Me, while House and Dexter are just always good. I just rewatched the 1st episode of the season for House yesterday while it was still on Hulu. That's still got to be one of the best episodes of one of my favorite shows of all time. Maybe it was just changing up the formula that did it, but still, ridiculously good. **BRENT**
deepak Posted November 11, 2009 Author Report Posted November 11, 2009 the V pilot. haven't the governments of the world learned anything? when alien space ships hover over your cities, nuke first and ask questions later. of course, the force to maintain a ship hovering like that over a city would be enough to smush the city, but that's beside the point. That would wipe out the politicians as well. And somebody's gonna know something is up when all of them run for the bunkers. I also highly doubt we'd be able to orchestrate that on a global scale. Pretty good pilot. Some terrible acting, but eh it's TV.
Hopstretch Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 Anyone else looking forward to this with a mixture of excitement and trepidation?
Voltron Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 Anyone else looking forward to this with a mixture of excitement and trepidation? Feeling slightly more trepidation than excitement after watching the first two episodes. Might warm to it more.
Dusty Chalk Posted November 22, 2009 Report Posted November 22, 2009 Dollhouse, Castle, Community, V.
en480c4 Posted November 22, 2009 Report Posted November 22, 2009 Eastern Promises It's been a while, but I remember being very impressed. And the level of violence was both unexpected and welcome.
Hopstretch Posted November 23, 2009 Report Posted November 23, 2009 (edited) It's a great movie and Viggo is great in it. He's one of my favorite actors and I am very much looking forward to The Road, which was one of my favorite books of a few years ago. Kind of the antithesis of bullshit like 2012. Dusty Chalk Posted November 23, 2009 Report Posted November 23, 2009 Yeah, I could dig it as well. I got a chinese fortune cookie fortune the other day that said that my wildest dreams would come true. I thought to myself, "the rapture? really?"
Dusty Chalk Posted November 23, 2009 Report Posted November 23, 2009 Caught up on V last night. Really hated that, "We'll take him from here"/"Okay" exchange -- do you really think that, knowing what she knows, she'd let them just take him, a potential ally, however imperfect?
Dusty Chalk Posted December 4, 2009 Report Posted December 4, 2009 Castle -- still digging this show thoroughly. And it's not just the nonverbal, it's also the constant shift in gears. There's a couple of scenes where Detective Beckett has to talk to a relative of someone recently deceased right after a typical light-hearted moment -- catches me off guard every single fucking time. They even had one where the butler did it, and they didn't even ever use the word "butler" -- not in that episode, anyway -- there's another episode where he talks about the butler doing it.
laxx Posted December 4, 2009 Report Posted December 4, 2009 Friday Night Lights. I really enjoy this show.
Salt Peanuts Posted December 5, 2009 Report Posted December 5, 2009 Watching wife watching Flashforward. One of those shows I vaguely know what's going on since wife watches it.
deepak Posted December 5, 2009 Author Report Posted December 5, 2009 The Prisoner (2009 version). Me likey.
n_maher Posted December 6, 2009 Report Posted December 6, 2009 I was watching V, which was going along ok. Now I find out that they are done airing episodes until March? WTF? Are they trying to kill the show after force feeding us add after add for weeks leading up to the premier? I swear the people that runs these things are getting dumber and dumber.
nattonrice Posted December 6, 2009 Report Posted December 6, 2009 That's the same as Stargate which doesn't pick up again until April. Hopefully Caprica turns out to be good.

I mean, they had to have thought about this, and then still came to this decision. W.T.F. OTOH, Morena Baccarin nude hiney. Probably CGI, but as close far as I'm going to get with her, that's about how much difference it makes.
