swt61 Posted May 25, 2021 Report Posted May 25, 2021 (edited) Stumbled across 'The Repair Shop' on Netflix. It's a British show that's exactly as it sounds. Quite interesting. This is definitely my type of thing. Some wonderful craftsmen. Edited May 25, 2021 by swt61 1
robm321 Posted May 26, 2021 Report Posted May 26, 2021 I've been watching it too. I enjoy it a lot but could see how others would not.
swt61 Posted May 26, 2021 Report Posted May 26, 2021 Yeah, me too. I'm weird that way. I love watching things being built or fixed.
Dusty Chalk Posted May 26, 2021 Report Posted May 26, 2021 Finally watching stuff again, Love Death & Robots season 2. So far, so good, as good as season 1. 1
swt61 Posted May 29, 2021 Report Posted May 29, 2021 The Outsider. Limited series, based on a Stephen King book. 2

Looks interesting but sometimes I would rather torture myself with racing vehicles that are far to heavy and illogical vs scaring the crap out of myself....LOL HS 1
swt61 Posted May 29, 2021 Report Posted May 29, 2021 Like many Stephen King stories, it deals with the supernatural, but it's more mystery than anything else. 2

Dusty Chalk Posted May 31, 2021 Report Posted May 31, 2021 Thanks for saving me from wanting to watch it.
swt61 Posted May 31, 2021 Report Posted May 31, 2021 That in no way implies it isn't worth watching. On the contrary, I really like a mystery that I can't figure out.
blessingx Posted May 31, 2021 Report Posted May 31, 2021 (edited) The rules of Spoiler Avoidance may be mankind’s greatest mystery. On the subject of mysteries, watched a bunch of these this morning... Edited May 31, 2021 by blessingx 1 2

jpelg Posted May 31, 2021 Report Posted May 31, 2021 Re: "Mare of Easttown", it's well-worth watching, if you are up for the basic premise/subject. The first episode is horribly depressing, and almost dissuaded me from sticking with it. But it hits a stride quickly & doesn't have unnecessary filler. I thought I had it figured out, but did not see the ending coming. Winslet turns in a great performance. Supporting cast is good too. Probly even better binging, than week-to-week. 2

blessingx Posted May 31, 2021 Report Posted May 31, 2021 Mare isn’t the only Midwestern mystery out there to solve. If this Memorial Day weekend you find yourself asking “what are the ties of the Protestant Reformation to Old World Amish?” see below. Watched this morning.
shellylh Posted May 31, 2021 Report Posted May 31, 2021 Binged watschend Mare of Eastland this weekend. Really good. 1
swt61 Posted May 31, 2021 Report Posted May 31, 2021 It had some twists and turns, and they even made sense in the end. 2
Pars Posted June 1, 2021 Report Posted June 1, 2021 Has anyone been watching "The Nevers" on HBO? I have, and while it has many problems and is kind of a mess, have been enjoying it. Joss Whedon, who I know has a lot of fans here. 1
swt61 Posted June 1, 2021 Report Posted June 1, 2021 I tried, but I'm just not a sci-fi/fantasy kind of guy.
blessingx Posted June 1, 2021 Report Posted June 1, 2021 ^ Similarly, I had great interest at the start when it felt something different, but lost interest by the end of the pilot as it got more conventionally genre-focused. I mean that less as a criticism, than to set expectations. Melissa has been enjoying it.
