Watchmen was a nice surprise. I hope this one is too. Agreed, I'm a big fan. Honestly, I didn't even need the creatures and mansion, though I am sure they'll add intrigue. The sense of total foreboding, of setting out into a hostile and uncharted world was palpable, all the more so because it's actually a world I am comfortable in but the characters were not. It's done more to take me out of myself than most horror/fantasy I've seen recently, and I'm a genre devotee. Full marks. That they should so handily embrace the mythos and confront the bigot who wrote it is an added narrative benefit. There could not have been a better moment for this show, and it wears its timeliness with confidence. Also, and please don't let this distract from the above, Jurnee Smollett is hot. swt61 Posted August 20, 2020 Report Posted August 20, 2020 I liked it too, though I don't know WTF is going on. Great acting, strong script, good characters. Ready for episode 2. 1

Augsburger Posted August 29, 2020 Report Posted August 29, 2020 (edited) Rising Phoenix Touches us on so many levels as our very good friend and former Russian and Italian Olympic fencing coach at one time stepped in to coach Italian paralympic athletes when their coach bailed on them. Eventually his athletes medaled and set many individual records. Defines what real challenge and dedication to life's goals is all about. Edited August 29, 2020 by Augsburger I blame Brent

jpelg Posted August 31, 2020 Report Posted August 31, 2020 Both seasons of The Umbrella Academy (Netflix), Absolutely fantastic! Everything a sci-fi/superhero ensemble franchise should be. Very well produced on all levels, and fresh. Highly recommended for fans of this genre. 2

Hopstretch Posted September 1, 2020 Report Posted September 1, 2020 I watched the new Bill and Ted movie and of course it's utterly ridiculous twaddle but it did give me a little warm flush of nostalgia. 5

skullguise Posted September 5, 2020 Report Posted September 5, 2020 Karen and I finished the Netflix series (through Season 2) of In The Dark. There's not a lot we like to watch together, and this was out there in several ways, but captivated us..... 1
Hopstretch Posted September 6, 2020 Report Posted September 6, 2020 "Ted Lasso" is actually really good, even if you don't follow either kind of football. 2
blessingx Posted September 6, 2020 Report Posted September 6, 2020 (edited) Agreed. Enjoyed and it got better as the season progressed (at least until I lost Apple+). I'm sure sports fans are aware of the series origins, but I didn't until YouTube suggested. From seven years ago... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iRqypM7jb5Y Edited September 6, 2020 by blessingx 1
