EdipisReks1 Posted March 2, 2017 Report Posted March 2, 2017 If anybody knows how to spell "knives," it's Jacob. Surely it's a coincidence than the "F" key and the "V" key are so close together on a QWERTY keyboard. Jacob also knifes Dusty out of frustration over his typo-pointing-outed-ness. 1
Dusty Chalk Posted March 2, 2017 Report Posted March 2, 2017 Yeah, I would have thought so. Didn't realize it was just a typo, makes a lot more sense than you not being able to spell anything knife-related.
jvlgato Posted March 2, 2017 Report Posted March 2, 2017 Sneaky Pete on Amazon Prime. Really enjoyable con job show. Worth a watch. 2
TMoney Posted March 7, 2017 Report Posted March 7, 2017 Africa's Great Civilizations I started watching a new documentary series on PBS about (as the title would indicate) the great civilizations of Africa. All episodes can be streamed for free. http://www.pbs.org/weta/africas-great-civilizations/home/ It is Dr. Henry Louis Gates' latest project. I watched the first two episodes and I've been enjoying it and learning a lot. I think the last world history class I had was sophomore year of high school so there is a ton here that is new and fascinating. The first episode primarily focused on the Egyptians and Kush while the second looked at the spread of christianity and islam in Africa as seen through the lens of the great empire of Axum. Man, I would love to visit some of these places. Meroe and Lalibela in particular look absolutely spectacular. Egypt of course is, as anyone who has been there can tell you, stunning as well.
robm321 Posted March 7, 2017 Report Posted March 7, 2017 Yeah, that looks very cool. Thanks for the heads up Tmoney.
swt61 Posted March 7, 2017 Report Posted March 7, 2017 Not yet, but later tonight Tom Jones and Alison Krauss on Soundstage.
Dusty Chalk Posted March 8, 2017 Report Posted March 8, 2017 A bunch of CG shorts I found on YouTube. So far, these are the best: although this was pretty funny in parts:
swt61 Posted March 8, 2017 Report Posted March 8, 2017 Damn! Tom looks pretty fantastic for 76. Still sounds pretty good too. Alison is always a pleasure to watch.
Dusty Chalk Posted March 12, 2017 Report Posted March 12, 2017 Amy Schumer: the Leather Special I laughed so hard, I farted.
jpelg Posted March 13, 2017 Report Posted March 13, 2017 Stranger Things (Netflix) - finally saw this & absolutely loved it.Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk 3
Voltron Posted March 14, 2017 Report Posted March 14, 2017 I think I've said it before, but Louie Anderson keeps me watching Baskets. Martha is the second reason. Zach Galafinakis is a distant third.
Dusty Chalk Posted March 14, 2017 Report Posted March 14, 2017 I've never heard of this show before, but now I must see it. I hated Zach in the Hangover movies I saw (1 & 2), but he still gets a pass because of the Between Two Ferns series of skit/interview/skinterviews. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6XSEi1jTR58

Dusty Chalk Posted March 14, 2017 Report Posted March 14, 2017 Not so much watching as listening -- Dudamel's complete cycle of Beethoven's symphonies: http://www.medici.tv/#!/dudamel-palaudelamusica-beethoven1-2
Dusty Chalk Posted March 15, 2017 Report Posted March 15, 2017 Small detour while I eat dinner: Jim Norton -- Mouthful of Shame -- not recommended while eating dinner, this guy works blue like there's no other colour in the universe.
grawk Posted March 15, 2017 Report Posted March 15, 2017 I watched that as I had dinner, myself. He's hilarious, but, yah, blue. 1
morphsci Posted March 18, 2017 Report Posted March 18, 2017 (edited) First two episodes of Iron Fist. The usual slow start but episode two was better than episode one. So far it is a mixture of Daredevil and Luke Cage. It has potential but so far the action scenes are not Daredevil quality and the cast is not Jessica Jones quality. Hogarth does make an appearance and I love her retorts and hubris Edited March 18, 2017 by morphsci
recstar24 Posted March 18, 2017 Report Posted March 18, 2017 So Jim it's not as horrific as the early reviews are saying?
morphsci Posted March 18, 2017 Report Posted March 18, 2017 If you read the AV club review that is so filled with errors I am not convinced they actually watched it. I would say the first episode is on par with Luke Cage, which started out slow. All of the Netflix Marvel series spend a lot of time filling you in if you are a virgin to the series. I am going to keep watching because every one improved over time, including the acting. Not everyone can get into character as quickly as De Niro. 2

Dusty Chalk Posted March 31, 2017 Report Posted March 31, 2017 13 Reasons Why (my sister did costuming)
Dusty Chalk Posted April 2, 2017 Report Posted April 2, 2017 Unholy carp, this is devastating. Anyone who has teenagers, is thinking about having teenagers, or who has ever been a teenager needs to watch this. I totally knew people like this. I was quite a bit more oblivious than Clay, but probably did just as much damage, if not more. Fuck. Being a teenager is hard enough, I just can't imagine what it would be like to be a teenager in this day&age.
