jpelg Posted April 16, 2014 Report Posted April 16, 2014 "The Bletchley Circle" - Season 2, ep 1 - this (and S1) is so well done. "Orphan Black" - rewatched all ten eps of Season 1, this time with the wife, in prep for Season 2 starting up this weekend. This is also so well done. Quote
postjack Posted April 16, 2014 Report Posted April 16, 2014 If anyone without HBO wants to watch the first episode of Silicon Valley it's on YT. Audio compression plays a big part. http://youtu.be/VvkmsI54ss4 Watched the first two episodes of this last week, loved it. Absolutely hilarious. Interesting to see a show take on the absurdity of corporate cult culture in Silicon Valley, especially since Apple/Google/etc are so celebrated as beacons of how a business should be run. In the past couple of months I've become a fan of Kumail Nanjiani. He is always perfect on Portlandia, and I heard some of his standup on sirius that had me howling. and of course he's great in Silicon Valley. I also love that critics are calling the show sexist after just two episodes because of the lack of women. Quote
jpelg Posted April 17, 2014 Report Posted April 17, 2014 Mesmerized by this video & song for some reason ("Holding On For Life" - Broken Bells): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhBewKu80Mg 1 Quote
grawk Posted April 17, 2014 Report Posted April 17, 2014 Fargo the series good start, if a little heavy on the lines from the movie Quote
Dusty Chalk Posted April 20, 2014 Report Posted April 20, 2014 "There's no cure for being a cunt." -- might be my favourite line, yet. Quote

Dusty Chalk Posted May 11, 2014 Report Posted May 11, 2014 Notwist live One of my favourite live experiences was seeing Notwist live on the Neon Golden tour. RIYL alternative of any sort, including Radiohead Quote
Dusty Chalk Posted May 13, 2014 Report Posted May 13, 2014 Bitten. Oh god damn this is good. Episode 10 just brings it. Get at least as far as episode 7. Do me a favor, y'all -- even if you find it's not your thing, let your Netflix play overnight with the sound down or something. They're still teasing us with whether or not they're renewing for season 2, and I have a feeling the more views of the entire season on Netflix, the better. The storyline in book 2 -- which will probably translate to season 2 -- will bring it up not just a notch, but by a whole order of magnitude, if they do it right. Also, there's lots of sex and nudity for those of you who are into that sort of thing. Mostly Greyston Holt, but some Laura Vandervoort (as well as others). Quote
ironbut Posted May 13, 2014 Report Posted May 13, 2014 Jimmy Fallon last night. Neil Young recorded "Crazy" to vinyl in Jack Whites restored "Recording Booth". I'm not a huge fan of White's music but I sure love what he's done with the fame and fortune that it's brought to him. http://www.thirdmanrecords.com/news 1 Quote
Dusty Chalk Posted May 19, 2014 Report Posted May 19, 2014 More Ralphie May (Too Big to Ignore) -- I find myself laughing harder and more often than at Jim Gaffigan, and that's telling. It's also misogynistic and racist as hell, but he pretty much doesn't leave anyone out, not even caw...caw...caw...white people. EDIT: I can't breathe: Quote
Dusty Chalk Posted May 20, 2014 Report Posted May 20, 2014 House of Cards -- this is fantastic. Love the fourth wall stuff -- it's right on the cusp. Zoey Barnes -- yeah, I'd do her. Of course, I'd also do Claire. The writing is off-the-hook good. Love the expressions on Frank's, Zoey's, Peter's faces when they're writing and reading texts, emails, etc. I love this shit. Quote

Dusty Chalk Posted May 29, 2014 Report Posted May 29, 2014 Foyle's War, which expires on Netflix 5/31. I only just started watching it. And CraigyFerg on 5/14. Quote
Dusty Chalk Posted May 30, 2014 Report Posted May 30, 2014 I love Sam Stewart, so plucky. And it was nice to see a very young James McAvoy and Dave Tennant. I couldn't help but think of Ali G during the musical number in the episode "The White Feather", despite it having an entirely different intent in this show. Quote
ironbut Posted May 31, 2014 Report Posted May 31, 2014 Loved the first season of Orphan. I'll probably wait till this one is in the can and ready for a full season binge! Quote
