shellylh Posted January 4, 2014 Report Posted January 4, 2014 Homeland (just finished episodes 1-4 of Season 1) - I like it.
Grahame Posted January 4, 2014 Report Posted January 4, 2014 Sherlock Season 3 Episode 1. This. recently. Preceded by the mini episode "Many Happy Returns" ( see spoiler) to set the scene Plenty of Depth, and the following (non plot related) observations The blatant / obvious Whitehall / Skyfall homage, infact plenty of bondian references (Mycroft/M , "You Only live Twice") etc Thesp relatives ... Watson's fiance being played by Martin Freeman’s other half, Amanda Abbington. Benedict Cumberbatch’s parents, Timothy Carlton and Wanda Ventham, play Sherlock’s parents. (Wanda Ventham used to play Col Virgina Lake in UFO ) Many more real spolers / discussion here http://www.empireonline.com/empireblogs/small-screen/post/p1439
blessingx Posted January 13, 2014 Report Posted January 13, 2014 One hour in of the two hour Downton Abbey season premiere. Opening second bottle.
shellylh Posted January 20, 2014 Report Posted January 20, 2014 Starting The Wire over again - Season 1 Episode 1 - I love this show. 1
Dusty Chalk Posted January 20, 2014 Report Posted January 20, 2014 Archer season 3, because GREATEST SHOW EVER.
crappyjones123 Posted January 20, 2014 Report Posted January 20, 2014 I made the mistake of watching an episode of doctor who and now I'm hooked . Why can't American tv be like this? I'd trade the number of episodes for quality in a heartbeat. Never saw a British tv show that I didn't absolutely fall in love with. The same can be said for only a handful of shows stateside.
Dusty Chalk Posted January 20, 2014 Report Posted January 20, 2014 I'd trade the number of episodes... There's actually quite a few episodes of Doctor Who. He's as old as I am...or rather, the show is.
Grahame Posted January 20, 2014 Report Posted January 20, 2014 Leading to the Who's the best Doctor/Bond question. Sometimes the first encounter isn't necessarily the best ...
Dusty Chalk Posted January 20, 2014 Report Posted January 20, 2014 I never understood why people feel a need to do that.
Dusty Chalk Posted January 21, 2014 Report Posted January 21, 2014 Anyone who has multiple headphones (I.E. me) is exempt, since we have different headphones for different situations. EDIT: Also, I think the concept of introducing ownership into the equation differentiates the two -- there's no ownership in Bonds or Doctors, other than by the actual show makers. So we are free to pick favorites in things we own, or things we feel the need to pare down, either financially, or just because. I mean, I have the same problem picking favorite movies from 2013 (I have four [Gravity, Stoker, Upstream Color, and The World's End], favourite albums (if you just listened to what you consider your favourite album for the umpteenth time and felt like something different, is it really -- right at that very second -- still your favourite album?), favourite movies of all time [blade Runner, but if there are so many different versions of it, and I wouldn't change a thing about Pulp Fiction or From Dusk Til Dawn -- neither of which I consider even remotely my favourite movie -- then...what? Am I just indecisive?). EDIT #2: By the way, this is my ranked headphone list: Leatherheads everything else ...you have to start stating criteria to get any more detailed than that (portable -- the Leatherheads just aren't -- etc.).
crappyjones123 Posted January 21, 2014 Report Posted January 21, 2014 I started with season 5. Matt Smith is almost as cool as Benedict Cumberbatch. All other doctors seem too slow. I enjoy fast, witty deliveries. The quantity reference was more for Sherlock than Doctor Who which has "longer" seasons. Hustle had 6 episodes and always left me wanting more. Sherlock takes that to a whole new level by having only 3/season. I wonder if the quality of popular shows like Walking Dead would improve if they didn't have filler episodes that didn't add anything to the story line (ie. the governor. Fuck the governor. Worst segway ever).
Dusty Chalk Posted February 1, 2014 Report Posted February 1, 2014 Just finished Sherlock s03e03. The first one was hilarious. The second one was...okay, funny again, really? Meh. But the third one was just fantastic.
Voltron Posted February 2, 2014 Report Posted February 2, 2014 That is a freakish poster. Is it real? Real creepy, that is for sure.
Grahame Posted February 2, 2014 Report Posted February 2, 2014 Rather than two teams I don't care about in a Game I couldn't care less about* Three Blokes cocking about. * When I said this yesterday, I remarked that I don't appear to have integrated very well 1
jpelg Posted February 2, 2014 Report Posted February 2, 2014 The Graham Norton Show - last week's ep with Idris Elba, Lena Dunham, & Olivia Colman - hilarious!
Audiojunkie Posted February 3, 2014 Report Posted February 3, 2014 Watching the Super Bore! Blow out and the result was never in question from the first quarter.
Voltron Posted February 3, 2014 Report Posted February 3, 2014 Second half will certainly have lowest ratings ever.
blessingx Posted February 5, 2014 Report Posted February 5, 2014 Not sure why, guess 'cause I visited once as a joke and know people in the audience, but watching the Super Bowl of Creation debates. http://fora.tv/event/bill_nye_debates_ken_ham/livestream
blessingx Posted February 6, 2014 Report Posted February 6, 2014 (edited) American Experience: The Amish: Shunned http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/americanexperience/films/shunned/ Edited February 6, 2014 by blessingx
blessingx Posted February 7, 2014 Report Posted February 7, 2014 No, but I see it's on PBS' iPad app. Thanks for the recommendation.
