grawk Posted September 22, 2016 Report Posted September 22, 2016 it doesn't get terrible, but it goes significantly off the rails.
swt61 Posted September 22, 2016 Report Posted September 22, 2016 Yes, that's what I mean. It seems they ran out of good ideas, though they did hold my attention. I also thought it funny that they did not further develop the newer characters. An opportunity lost IMO.
MexicanDragon Posted September 22, 2016 Report Posted September 22, 2016 I watched all of Limitless (the series.) I really enjoyed it, and hate it only got one season, but it did get one full season. It was silly at times, but played to its charms for much of it. I hope Netflix buys it to relaunch one day, as it has Dexter's sister in it, and brought back warm fuzzies. **BRENT** 1
swt61 Posted September 22, 2016 Report Posted September 22, 2016 It seems to me that series spawning from a movie have a hard time. The nature of a film doesn't lend itself well to an ongoing series. Top notch writers are a must for sure. 1
Dusty Chalk Posted September 22, 2016 Report Posted September 22, 2016 Especially considering it wasn't that successful a movie. Was it? I mean, I saw it, but that doesn't mean a whole lot, I was seeing a movie a week back then. But I don't remember it generating a whole lot of discussion.

TMoney Posted September 28, 2016 Report Posted September 28, 2016 The Choice: 2016 on Frontline. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/frontline/film/the-choice-2016/ Fascinating and balanced 2-hour bio on the two candidates. Frontline certainly doesn't pull their punches on either. I learned a lot about both Hillary and Donald that I didn't know before. Very highly recommended! 1
swt61 Posted September 28, 2016 Report Posted September 28, 2016 When I want real news PBS is the choice.

They re-ran this last night, and I watched it. Wow! I really did learn a lot that I didn't know. And if you're a liberal, democrat, pinko fag like me, and the thought of Trump as president makes you break into a cold sweat, this will only serve to reinforce your fears. He's a much bigger asshole than even I thought possible. His lack of any humanity is absolutely chilling. Don't get me wrong, I'm not of the opinion that Hillary is any kind of saint, but the choice between the two is a no brainer in my mind. Sorry Trump fans, just my opinion. 5
Dusty Chalk Posted October 1, 2016 Report Posted October 1, 2016 Luke Cage Oh, look, it's Remy Danton. Also: greatest soundtrack I've heard in a long time. Little slow so far, but I dig it.

Very good. 2

Me, now: Alter Bridge live stream:
morphsci Posted October 9, 2016 Report Posted October 9, 2016 I finished it and it does get better. It is not as good as Jessica Jones nor as action packed as Daredevil, but I still ended up liking it and will watch season two if there is one. I also agree with you about the music, I liked it a lot and it was very integral to the story. 1
Dusty Chalk Posted October 10, 2016 Report Posted October 10, 2016 Thanks, I will continue with it then. I actually really liked that they opened episode 5 with the entirety of that performance from Jidenna. It's rare that they play a song all the way through, and I definitely applaud that.
Dusty Chalk Posted October 16, 2016 Report Posted October 16, 2016 Finished it; that was fucking fantastic. And Sharon Jones! And the chemistry between Luke and Claire .
Dusty Chalk Posted October 21, 2016 Report Posted October 21, 2016 Sense8 -- this is a very weird show. I am totally enjoying it. I am especially enjoying the comediic bits. One, where one of the girls is having her period, and the males don't realize what is going on and can't deal. And right in the first episode, a musical number! Very Bollywood. (Not the whole show, just the straight out of nowhere musical number.)
Dusty Chalk Posted October 23, 2016 Report Posted October 23, 2016 Was trying to watch Truckfighters live on Facebook, but ( a ) their microphone was completely overwhelmed, and ( b ) their connection kept hanging up, and it wasn't anything to speak of in the first place. Alas, looks like a good show, though, I'd definitely like to see them if I ever get the chance (they're from Germany, so they'd have to become big enough for that to be worth it, which it isn't for most bands).
Dusty Chalk Posted October 25, 2016 Report Posted October 25, 2016 Black Mirror season 3 -- good goddamn, best season yet, by far. Just astoundingly good, every episode.
Grahame Posted October 25, 2016 Report Posted October 25, 2016 So you'd rate it 5 stars then? [emoji6]
Dusty Chalk Posted October 25, 2016 Report Posted October 25, 2016 I probably liked that first episode the least -- I just didn't "get" the ending, and I don't think they did neither. I think they just wrote something, I was happy enough with the premise and most of the story arc, they just didn't know how to conclude it. I think they knew that, too, and that's fine. They certainly more than made up for it with all the other episodes, from "Playtest" on. "San Junipero" was by far the most affecting. But I have to admit, "Hated in the Nation" had me on the edge of my seat. So...yeah...all of them.
Grahame Posted October 25, 2016 Report Posted October 25, 2016 See if you agree with this reviews interpretation of the ending of nosedive (contains spoilers, for those that have not yet seen it)http://www.digitalspy.com/tv/black-mirror/review/a811645/black-mirror-season-3-review-the-surprise-climax-to-nosedive-is-the-shows-biggest-twist-yet/
Dusty Chalk Posted October 25, 2016 Report Posted October 25, 2016 Yeah, I'd agree with their interpretation of the ending, absolutely. But I still didn't find it as cathartic or horrific as the ones I ended up preferring.
