Dusty Chalk Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 I'm jealousx2 -- there's really nothing like fresh fish.
grawk Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 and there's no fish quite like an alaskan salmon
Dusty Chalk Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 Why, are they heartier because they spend so much of their life shivering? More muscle mass? More fat?
guzziguy Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 x2 -- there's really nothing like fresh fish. Arctic Char? Similar but more delicate than salmon.
DigiPete Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 and there's no fish quite like an alaskan salmon A buddy of mine went up there last week with some of his buddies and they rented a fishing boat. I got 10 lbs king, 10 lbs silver salmon, and 7 lbs halibut.
DigiPete Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 Did not hear about any red? Is that the best? I thought King was?
grawk Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 king is best for canning. Red salmon is BY FAR the best for eating. But it's pretty late for reds.
Dusty Chalk Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 local cafeteria fish mac & cheese Surprisingly generous portion for fie-sitty.
Aura Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 One of those frozen mini-pizzas. It's surprisingly delic.
Augsburger Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 I thought Copper River was the best. Ahh so much for the fish market sales pitch I guess.

grawk Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 monte cristo (ham and cheese sandwich, dipped in egg batter, then fried)
JBLoudG20 Posted August 21, 2008 Author Report Posted August 21, 2008 Do you dip the entire sandwich into the batter?
JBLoudG20 Posted August 21, 2008 Author Report Posted August 21, 2008 Well, I didn't knwo if you essentially make a ham and cheese sandwich, then dip the entire thing, or if you essentially make french toast, with ham and cheese.
grawk Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 You don't make french toast, because only the outside of the bread is dipped in egg. You're supposed to dip the whole sandwich, but unless you're deep frying it, you'll end up with raw egg, which I avoid, so I just dip the outsides But the effect is french toast ham and cheese sandwich.
JBLoudG20 Posted August 21, 2008 Author Report Posted August 21, 2008 Either way its soudns tastey. Jacob, you got my shop?
grawk Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 pork chops with sticky fingers bbq sauce rice w/ butter and pepper fresh maryland sweet corn on the cob
Dusty Chalk Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 Is not good? I've been meaning to try that place, I tend to like sandwich places...oh, well, guess I'll indefinitely postpone it. PS Me: candy. I should have some porridge or something. Maybe I'll have some faux-Rice Crispies.
guzziguy Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 For dinner I had a burrito cubano from El Sito, a very authentic Mexican eatery in SB. Mmmm!
