Dusty Chalk Posted June 25, 2013 Report Posted June 25, 2013 Just finished some yummy pho from Pho N More, and a froyo smoothie chaser from Red Mango.
blessingx Posted June 28, 2013 Report Posted June 28, 2013 Nothing too special, but really satisfying bacon at a local Mexican restaurant.
jvlgato Posted June 28, 2013 Report Posted June 28, 2013 a little rustic French bread. it's pretty perfect, even if i do say so myself. Damn ... didn't realize you had completely cut off your ring finger with that last knife accident!
guzziguy Posted June 28, 2013 Report Posted June 28, 2013 I guess we'll have to call you Frodo from here on out.
cetoole Posted June 29, 2013 Report Posted June 29, 2013 Ribs and shrimp in Virginia the other night.
swt61 Posted June 29, 2013 Report Posted June 29, 2013 blackened coho salmon sandwich with the ginger avenger Damn, that sounds good! The sandwich, that is.
cetoole Posted June 30, 2013 Report Posted June 30, 2013 Brisket and rainbow chard. Went a bit too long on the brisket, softer than it should be.
skullguise Posted June 30, 2013 Report Posted June 30, 2013 Had Montreal's famous "smoked beef" sandwich and poutine for lunch. I guess being a Jew from Boston (and with in-laws from NY area) I am spoiled. Basically it was corned beef, which my stepmom makes better! Never mind all the good deli's where I've had it....Was still quite tasty, though, and the poutine was good to try....once.

Grahame Posted July 7, 2013 Report Posted July 7, 2013 (edited) Following the recommendations of those who know SLO Tri Tip etc etc Edited July 7, 2013 by Grahame
Grahame Posted July 7, 2013 Report Posted July 7, 2013 If we can't be in Paris at least we can start brunch with coffee and beignets in the #2 tripadvisor ranked restaurant in SLO....Still hungry? But of course
shellylh Posted July 7, 2013 Report Posted July 7, 2013 Jealous of the tri-tip! Ok, I guess I'm not too jealous since I did have a rather good Pave de Boeuf aux Poivre Vert ("medium rare" in France = rare).
Voltron Posted July 7, 2013 Report Posted July 7, 2013 (edited) Did you order "a point" (ah pwant) or something else? If you want to make sure it is the medium side of medium rare, ask for "bien cuit" (bee-en kwee). I meant to add that even saying "medium rare" is usually going to be understood, but as you see they tend to undercook. Better than the opposite, of course. Edited July 7, 2013 by Voltron
shellylh Posted July 7, 2013 Report Posted July 7, 2013 (edited) The problem was that the waiter asked me, in English, "medium rare or medium?" and I responded "medium rare." I wasn't sure if he would think that I was ordering an American version of medium rare or the French version. I was with a friend of mine who is is French (we met up for dinner) and we were wondering what would they would bring out. It was still good and I ate it like that but I woudn't call it medium rare (unless that means rare on the inside and medium on the outside ). I certainly didn't want to say medium and actually get a (what American's consider) medium steak. Edited July 7, 2013 by shellylh
Grahame Posted July 7, 2013 Report Posted July 7, 2013 Once, many moons ago, our French waiter, realizing we were English, said "would you like it Bloody?, or Burnt?" 2
tyrion Posted July 7, 2013 Report Posted July 7, 2013 Yum, tri tip! Dinner tonight : Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
