Voltron Posted July 4, 2012 Report Posted July 4, 2012 Working on the holiday but I have declared independence from the office! Breakfast couldn't include a Bloody Mary or Ramos Fizz, but I used a jigger anyway. Not its highest and best use, but a very workable soft boiled egg cup.
tyrion Posted July 4, 2012 Report Posted July 4, 2012 Jp, that's looks like the wings we had when Tap42 first opened. Good luck!
jp11801 Posted July 4, 2012 Report Posted July 4, 2012 Two wings in started drooling like I was on anti psychotic drugs and proceeded to get some in my eye. Funny as fuck providing you weren't me.

Salt Peanuts Posted July 5, 2012 Report Posted July 5, 2012 A rachel being the friends haircut from the 90s? Or maybe he's eating out. It's a Reuben variation. Usually substitutes corned beef with pastrami and sauerkraut with cole slaw, though I keep the corned beef if it's made at home.
shellylh Posted July 5, 2012 Report Posted July 5, 2012 Whiskey Barrel Steak and Baked Potato Wouldn't mind having some of that right now.
cetoole Posted July 6, 2012 Report Posted July 6, 2012 Too much S-V duck breast, which was rubbed with brown sugar and cooked for 6 hours with orange slices and pickled peppers at 134 F.
blessingx Posted July 7, 2012 Report Posted July 7, 2012 Not from scratch and a couple days late, but apple pie cooling.
jvlgato Posted July 8, 2012 Report Posted July 8, 2012 (edited) Dinner earlier tonight: Smoked meat sandwich in Schwartz's Deli in Montreal. Oo la la! This is ungodly good! So moist, tender and flavorful. Choice of lean, medium, or extra fatty. I went with medium, and it was a good balance. Thanks for the tip, Al! Edited July 8, 2012 by jvlgato
mikeymad Posted July 8, 2012 Report Posted July 8, 2012 at least you got fries with that ... wouldn't want to get hungry on the way home
NightWoundsTime Posted July 8, 2012 Report Posted July 8, 2012 One case where I probably should have taken pictures. I got the truffles for the beer, spared a bit for some amazing mac&cheese w/ aged cheddar & gruyere. Rob's wife Stephanie knocked out a recipe for flank steak roulette they found today. Add milk chocolate stout. Can you say complete sensory overload? My stomach is still trying to decide what happened.
NightWoundsTime Posted July 8, 2012 Report Posted July 8, 2012 Should mention though, that when my friends say bacon, what they really mean is a terrible substance originally designed as a synthetic leather, made from truly awful unspeakable bits of turkey. To my friends this is acceptable and preferred, even on a blowout truffle & steak and stout meal. I should have known but my friend said bacon and I simply forget, every time, when he says bacon, that he knows not what he says. I believe he specifically said "she got bacon and made steak roulettes." As in a specific trip. Tomorrow I think I will need to insist on being an asshole about this, to avoid future incidents. I will supply my own bacon, if need be, is the basic point.
Absorbine_Sr Posted July 8, 2012 Report Posted July 8, 2012 (edited) Dry-rubbed, grilled flatiron steak with Caesar salad. Edited July 8, 2012 by Absorbine_Sr
Voltron Posted July 8, 2012 Report Posted July 8, 2012 Schwartz's is the shiznick! You chose well on the smoked meat selection, and the frites and pickles are perfect! So glad you went and enjoyed it John. Bon soir.
cetoole Posted July 8, 2012 Report Posted July 8, 2012 (edited) That sammich looks good! Reminds me that I have not yet gotten to any of the places here like Katz's. I have been experimenting with at-home dry aging beef. It is good, very noticeably different, especially in how the meat sears. 4 days in: Then I seared and ate both ribeyes.
