NightWoundsTime Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 Really good home made chocolate chip cookies. My mom came here last weekend on her way from my sisters place in Tennessee back home to Tampa (the god-forsaken Alabama route, sorry PJ). Brought me my sister's choc chip cookies. Even though I possess her super secret recipe I can't copy her success. Partially because that would involve tracking down her super secret vanilla extract supplier. Basically black-market from how she describes it. Quote
Duggeh Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 Dinner tonight was fresh lobster with salad. Fillet steak, carrots in honey, waxy boiled potatoes, green beans in garlic. Cart Quote
Duggeh Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 You obviously don't get the right type of potatoes for good boilers. Quote
Augsburger Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 Back on topic- what "vintage wine and vintage Port" Duggeh? Quote

grawk Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 I boil potatoes somewhat regularly as well. It's not always convenient to roast them. And boiled fingerling potatoes are better than roasted russetts... Quote
Absorbine_Sr Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 Flank steak and fries from FFF. Quote
shellylh Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 i typically bake potatoes for mashed potatoes, you get a lot more flavor. Never thought of making mashed potatoes with baked potatoes but I am sure they would be much better. I bet they would taste a lot like baked potatoes. Quote
tyrion Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 Marinating some flank steak with CCB Marshall Zhukov Imperial Stout, onions, garlic, brown sugar, salt and pepper. Also some acorn squash on the grill with a honey, butter, salt and pepper sauce that will go on for the last 40 minutes of griqlling. Quote
Salt Peanuts Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 General Gau's Chicken and pork fried rice Quote
shellylh Posted October 11, 2010 Report Posted October 11, 2010 Mike's dinner looked so good, I went about and bought an acorn squash and rib eye steak. The squash are cooking on the grill right now and the steak will go on just long enough for the rare side of med-rare. Quote
DigiPete Posted October 11, 2010 Report Posted October 11, 2010 Sheesh... Mike's meat creations are seriously tasty looking Quote
tyrion Posted October 11, 2010 Report Posted October 11, 2010 Shelly, how was the ribeye? The new grill does a great job with steak. Quote
shellylh Posted October 11, 2010 Report Posted October 11, 2010 The acorn squash took a lot longer than I thought they would take but they eventually finished after throwing them in the oven at 450. Guess I need a super grill like Mike. The ribeyes were great, very near rare but really good. It doesn't hurt to slop a little butter on them when they come off the grill. Quote
jvlgato Posted October 11, 2010 Report Posted October 11, 2010 Forbidden City Roll: Spicy Tuna, Lettuce, Unagi, Ebi, with Organic Wild Black Rice, Also some Tuna, Yellowtail, Salmon sushi. I have lunch and the afternoon to myself, after having the kids to myself all weekend. My wife was in the Twin Cities visiting one of her best friends who underwent her second round of chemo due to breast cancer. Edit: The roll is good, but it's Unagi sauce, no Unagi! So I just ordered a piece of Unagi sushi. Have to have that! Quote
jvlgato Posted October 11, 2010 Report Posted October 11, 2010 Pretty yummy, indeed! Haven't been able to convince Anne that sushi is awesome (yet). So when I get time alone, it's often for sushi. Quote
jvlgato Posted October 11, 2010 Report Posted October 11, 2010 Wouldn't mess with that particular arrangement called marriage? Or really off-color humor? Cold Stone Creamery German Chocolate Cake Mix-In. Had to offset the healthiness of the sushi. Not bad. Can't say I love it. Not even sure I want to finish it. Quote
jvlgato Posted October 11, 2010 Report Posted October 11, 2010 Ah! Gotta get my mind out of the gutter! Quote
Salt Peanuts Posted October 11, 2010 Report Posted October 11, 2010 What I want is a good, free sushi. I'm still annoyed that my folks moved 5 hours away. Quote
jvlgato Posted October 11, 2010 Report Posted October 11, 2010 I can use chopsticks, but am told by 'real' Asians that I hold them like a kindergartener or a barbarian. Quote
