crappyjones123 Posted April 21, 2013 Report Posted April 21, 2013 I started watching the chicago brooklyn game and left it on the pan for too long. Now I have a piece of the burnt portion stuck in my throat and it is pissing me off with a constant reminder of my stupidity. Quote
swt61 Posted April 22, 2013 Report Posted April 22, 2013 Being a working class family with four kids, my Mom was always trying to stretch a dollar when it came to meals. One of the cheaper meals to fix was a Southern staple...pinto beans and cornbread. It was a favorite of my siblings and I. It's a meal I make a few times a year, but yesterday I decided to change it up a bit. I decided to fry up a half dozen strips of a good quality peppered bacon, then saute a diced Red bell pepper in the bacon grease. The bacon was crumbled and added to the cornbread mix, along with the bell pepper. It was a great addition, especially with the pinto beans smothering the cornbread. Yummy! Quote
swt61 Posted April 22, 2013 Report Posted April 22, 2013 but I don't think I will use Chilean Sea Bass in this going forward. I think Mahi Mahi may be my favorite so far in this application. Colin, now that you're near Halibut country, I'd recommend you try it in the curry. It will hold up well, and is delicious. Quote
grawk Posted April 22, 2013 Report Posted April 22, 2013 plus it's darn near free (if you have access to a boat and the alaskan coast) Quote
guzziguy Posted April 23, 2013 Report Posted April 23, 2013 Coconut M&M's. Halibut is more expensive that salmon down here. Quote
swt61 Posted April 23, 2013 Report Posted April 23, 2013 Halibut is more expensive than salmon in Alaska too. Quote

Dusty Chalk Posted May 23, 2013 Report Posted May 23, 2013 Shit, now I'm hungry, but strawberries (the only fresh fruit I have right now) don't really go with DIPA, so I'll have something else -- probably chips and salsa. Quote
grawk Posted May 24, 2013 Report Posted May 24, 2013 I just had a sublime crab and corn bisque, followed by a perfectly executed crawfish and shrimp pasta with cream sauce. Finally, once I was already stuffed, I had a way too large, amazing bread pudding with rum sauce. I feel ill I ate so much, but the flavors were all the best I've had since arriving in Louisiana. 1 Quote
shellylh Posted May 25, 2013 Report Posted May 25, 2013 Truffled egg salad on pretzel bread with parmesan, aioli, and green + kale and orzo salads. Pretzel bread is the best. Quote
Voltron Posted May 25, 2013 Report Posted May 25, 2013 Pretzel bread would have been awesome on my egg salad sandwich today instead of freezer burn wheat. :/ Quote
