cutestory Posted November 28, 2012 Report Posted November 28, 2012 Shelly, can Jeffy get the recipe for those ribses? He loves Dr. Pepper-based anything. Why is he speaking about himself in the third person? STOP IT. Shelly, can I get the recipe for those ribses?
shellylh Posted November 28, 2012 Report Posted November 28, 2012 Wish I could help you out but you'll have to call up the restaurant and get the recipe. There are quite a few recipes online. I think I'll try one at some point.
cutestory Posted November 28, 2012 Report Posted November 28, 2012 ^ Aw, I thought you mades it! I did make some recently with that Jim Beam Red Stag, and they came out pretty nice...

cutestory Posted November 28, 2012 Report Posted November 28, 2012 How did that Modernist Cuisine Tgiving dinner turn out? Caramelized carrot soup blew people's minds (including my own). See here, served with tarragon on top and a side of pressure-cooked garlic confit on La Brea Bakery sourdough: Clockwise, from the top: stuffing puree, sweet potato puree, fingerling potatoes confit (in duck fat), sous vide turkey breast, sous vide turkey thigh confit (also in duck fat), and deep fried brussels sprouts in the center. The whole thing is garnished with carbonated cranberries. Everything was fantastic, but I don't recommend making an entire holiday menu from dishes you've never made before...we didn't start eating until 6:30 pm, and folks were almost at the point of getting cranky.
jvlgato Posted November 28, 2012 Report Posted November 28, 2012 Wow, that looks really good! I perused those recipes. They look like a ton of work, but really amazing!
cutestory Posted November 29, 2012 Report Posted November 29, 2012 As an excuse to purchase a bunch of cooking gear, Thanksgiving isn't a bad holiday.
cutestory Posted December 2, 2012 Report Posted December 2, 2012 Holyshit just got back from having dinner at n/naka in Culver City. If you're a foodie and you live near this place, you must go, simple as that. I've had a lot of fantastic meals in my life, all over the world, and this is up there with the best.
Dusty Chalk Posted December 6, 2012 Report Posted December 6, 2012 I can't do those dragon volcano things -- they're too rich. But that still looks good. I do like 'em.
cutestory Posted December 7, 2012 Report Posted December 7, 2012 Massaman curry with tofu and brown rice.

jvlgato Posted December 7, 2012 Report Posted December 7, 2012 That looks awesome! I meant to PM you after talking to Kevin last weekend. Is that possible only for special Mafioso, or can a regular guy like me order something too?

Grahame Posted December 8, 2012 Report Posted December 8, 2012 If you own no Staxen, no bakery goods for you! Is the converse true?

jvlgato Posted December 8, 2012 Report Posted December 8, 2012 Dammit! Maybe if I buy some used Staxen, I can get some bakery on the side?
morphsci Posted December 8, 2012 Report Posted December 8, 2012 Converse vs. inverse...don't...remember...difference...brain exploding... Converse are sneakers and inverse is cool writing.
