Dusty Chalk Posted August 21, 2010 Report Posted August 21, 2010 but my body is no longer accustom to processed sugar and diary. I can relate. I don't dare have ice cream any more, not without my Dairy-Eze™.
GPH Posted August 23, 2010 Report Posted August 23, 2010 Great late night snack indeed. I also cook fresh sardines once in a while, it's even better, but the preparation is a bitch.
Salt Peanuts Posted August 24, 2010 Report Posted August 24, 2010 Cold sesame noodle Reminds of me one of foods that I miss most for not living in Japan - seasonal cold noodles.

Dusty Chalk Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 seasonal cold noodles. Hiyashi Chuka? So basically, it's a Japanese take on the Chinese dish? Like this? (I googled "Japanese cold noodles", because "seasonal cold noodles" didn't do it.) Or is it something else? Need to find some...will have to stop by my local asian store this weekend.

Salt Peanuts Posted August 26, 2010 Report Posted August 26, 2010 ^ All of the above, as well as cold udon and somen. Most of them are easy enough to make, assuming I can find all the ingredients at the local H Mart. Too bad I hate going there.

Wmcmanus Posted August 27, 2010 Report Posted August 27, 2010 Cottage cheese and then provolone cheese. Atkins snacks, I guess you would call them.
NightWoundsTime Posted August 29, 2010 Report Posted August 29, 2010 Just got back from El Mercadito, a very nice mexican joint real close to my house here. Got a beef tongue taco (authentic style), el pastor gordita, and the best tamale I've had pretty much ever. Grand total with a mexican coke: $13. I'm stuffed.
tyrion Posted August 29, 2010 Report Posted August 29, 2010 Haven't had beef tongue in a while. I think we may be in Tallahassee in early September I'm making a smoked brisket and another brisket I'm making in the oven. Kind of a shoot out to decide what kind to make for Rosh Hashanah. Pics later.

Grahame Posted September 4, 2010 Report Posted September 4, 2010 Crumpets, from The Crumpet Shop, that a friend bough back from Pikes Place Market. We enjoyed them so much when we were in Seattle we had to have them again!. We're having them with cream cheese, pesto, sliced roast chicken breast (no ham in the fridge!) and tomato slices. Yum! kind of like this . Washed down with home made double lattes on the deck. Good start to a holiday weekend.
