Just had an excellent meal at a local Middle Eastern restaurant named Aladdin Pita. To start off they bring Pita and four different accoutrements - Baba Ghannoug, Hummus, Turkish Salad (onion, garlic, tomatoes, cilantro, tomato puree with salt pepper and cumin) and Arabian salad (cucumber, tomatoes, parsley and fresh mint dressed with lemon juice and olive oil). I could have stopped there. The salads were so fresh and flavorful and the hummus was the best I've ever had. We then had a plate of Falafel and tahini sauce. For main course I had Fasulia which is a green bean stew with lamb and basmati rice on the side. It was in a wonderfully spiced tomato sause with two large lamb shanks so tender the meat just pulled away from the bone with a fork. Deb had Chicken Biryani, basmati rice flavored with Indian spices, chicken and garnished with nuts. Both entres were excellent and more than we could finish. I ended with a Turkish coffee, strong but smooth and served in the ibrik it was brewed in.

The price was amazingly good even after we added an order of the Hummus and Turkish salad plus Pita to take with us. This place has been there for years but it was the first time we had gone. It won't take me long to go back, that's for sure!
