justin Posted September 29, 2007 Author Report Posted September 29, 2007 I have a new knob concept that I think is what I want....but I want to take it to a vote here. It keeps the flat edge that can be gripped from the front, but looks more like a conventional round knob Original New!!1!
Nanoha Posted September 29, 2007 Report Posted September 29, 2007 The new knob is sooooo much better. Actually, it's beautiful!
Upstateguy Posted September 29, 2007 Report Posted September 29, 2007 Hi Justin FWIW unless the pot is really hard to turn, I'd keep it small and round with an index line. Less machining, lower cost, and not easily bumped into another position like one with flats on it. Maybe like a minature GS1 knob for continuity. How often do you have to adjust the volume Vs. how often the volume knob bumps against something in your pocket or bag? USG
CD44hi Posted September 29, 2007 Report Posted September 29, 2007 I prefer the new one as well. (11!!11)
DigiPete Posted September 29, 2007 Report Posted September 29, 2007 I like the new one better, now just make it a bit shorter.
jinp6301 Posted September 29, 2007 Report Posted September 29, 2007 http://www.head-fi.org/forums/showpost.php?p=3314653&postcount=90 be the first one to scam justin out of $20!!!
hYdrociTy Posted September 29, 2007 Report Posted September 29, 2007 Am I the only one to think the new flatter knob looks really cheap?
MrSlacker Posted September 29, 2007 Report Posted September 29, 2007 Am I the only one to think the new flatter knob looks really cheap? Yes, you are.
Dusty Chalk Posted September 30, 2007 Report Posted September 30, 2007 I don't know, it's just CG -- kind of hard to tell. Either one would be fine with me, but I hadn't yet thought of the "bumping it" problem, which is probably a serious consideration.
n_maher Posted September 30, 2007 Report Posted September 30, 2007 I like them both. Great job on the design Justin, I can't imagine that Resistor Ray is happy about being trumped for the "stuffing the most into the smallest package" title.
JBLoudG20 Posted October 1, 2007 Report Posted October 1, 2007 I like them both. Great job on the design Justin, I can't imagine that Resistor Ray is happy about being trumped for the "stuffing the most into the smallest package" title. And the part I love, is that Ray will NEVER be able to beat the pico. For the size/features ratio.
MrSlacker Posted October 1, 2007 Report Posted October 1, 2007 According to Skyshit, Ray IS coming out with portable DAC/Amp.... prolly cmoy+alien dac in 1 box
elnero Posted October 1, 2007 Report Posted October 1, 2007 According to Skyshit, Ray IS coming out with portable DAC/Amp.... prolly cmoy+alien dac in 1 box I've been wondering about that, I've seen a few of his fanboys allude to some secret amp and from the hints it sounded like something else that's portable which if true considering his lineup now only a portable amp/DAC really makes much sense. Oh and I'm liking the new volume knob concept a lot more than the original, it's kind of a blending of the original and the AE-2's.
xand1x Posted October 1, 2007 Report Posted October 1, 2007 what if ray comes out with a Taserhawk? Then you can throw cookies at him (oatmeal raisin)
postjack Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 forgive the ignorant question, but lets say one ordered a pico with usb dac. Could the DAC be bypassed to be used only as an amp? i.e. using an iPod or other DAP. I'm thinking this would be great to carry around with a laptop and some IEMs at coffeeshops and what have you, but also great to be able to use an iPod with if one doesn't want to lug around a laptop.

deepak Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 Seeing how I'll be an admin there (would p-fizzle really know how to use all those admin controls? ), you're cool humanflyz. Just use something like humanflyz02 or something, and you'll probably stay under the radar
