EdipisReks1 Posted September 8, 2019 Report Posted September 8, 2019 Since my bracelet was mentioned here, new bracelets seem like a reasonable post. It looks like three, but it's two. One is Gucci (not a brand I would usually wear, but I really like this; it has cat heads on the inside of the cuff ends!) and the other is a vintage-styled mesh-and-ring. 1
SeaWolf Posted September 9, 2019 Report Posted September 9, 2019 The new 50th speed master sets take over the top to a new level! I just like the experience at the beginning. My retail boxes also end up stored in the bottom of my safe, I have a a very large safe so I have more storage than my means will allow me to fill. In volume these boxes are super cheap to make, so I just feel like they are being lazy. I would also not hesitate to call out any other brand I have experience with that did the same. It's just in my small collection the rolex box sticks out.

EdipisReks1 Posted September 16, 2019 Report Posted September 16, 2019 If I hadn't just added the Drive Extra, I think I would get this. I think it's beautiful. Less than half the price (you can get substantial MB discounts), too. Mr. Cerrato is doing amazing work. https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/montblanc-heritage-gmt-value-proposition

SeaWolf Posted September 18, 2019 Report Posted September 18, 2019 I have never loved the name of that series "the value proposition". I wish they would drop that name and just present the watches as a normal review. That MB has a nice use of textures and colors on the face.
SeaWolf Posted September 19, 2019 Report Posted September 19, 2019 I left my new omega book on my wife's desk at her clinic with a note. This is the response I got later. 4 4
EdipisReks1 Posted September 21, 2019 Report Posted September 21, 2019 I got the UG back from having the battery replaced. I do really like this watch, with its period correct 20x14 Spiedel lizard strap and gold-plated buckle. 1
SeaWolf Posted September 22, 2019 Report Posted September 22, 2019 (edited) Very expressive of 1970 case design. I approve! Edit :: I don't mean to imply that it's a re-release, reproduction or tribute. Rather than the real deal. Edited September 22, 2019 by SeaWolf

SeaWolf Posted September 23, 2019 Report Posted September 23, 2019 That's cool, so it's a trend setter for those that would follow in the next decade? To me it has the cushion shape and the lugs integrate the strap into the watch. Design ideas that would take off in the following decade.

You aren't wrong that the shape was certainly popular in the 1970s, but the 60s had a lot more heterodox design-sensibility than you might think. It just seems staid in comparison late-60s and 1970s.
HemiSam Posted September 24, 2019 Report Posted September 24, 2019 It makes me think 60’s more than 70’s but I’m old and taking in the I just arrived to my hotel libation.... HS 2

EdipisReks1 Posted October 7, 2019 Report Posted October 7, 2019 I put watches back on bracelets every autumn, and every autumn I remark on how incredibly comfortable the Omega 1171 bracelet is. 2
SeaWolf Posted October 15, 2019 Report Posted October 15, 2019 Well I decided to pull the trigger on the omega seamaster bullhead. It arrived today at my local AD. It will live there for some time.. I need to build up some more good will with the wife before bringing it home. I am supposed to buy one watch a year, this would put me at 3 watches in 13 months. The core of my collection is now complete as I really wanted a chrono but did not have one. Stock photo of the variant I got, will do wrist shot when I can pick it up. Hoping to bring it home before the end of the year. 5
n_maher Posted October 15, 2019 Report Posted October 15, 2019 It's possible for 13 months to span three years, if you get creative. Sweet watch!
EdipisReks1 Posted October 15, 2019 Report Posted October 15, 2019 Wear it at work, only? With an alarm on your phone to remind you to take it off?
SeaWolf Posted October 15, 2019 Report Posted October 15, 2019 I don't work regular hours and I work less than 20 total hours a week. Most of the time it's closer to 10. If I did normal office type hours that strategy would be ok, but I wouldn't get the wear it much and it would be easy to screw up. This isn't a big town either and my wife is in the same industry, so probably not worth the risk either way. I'll wait.
SeaWolf Posted October 15, 2019 Report Posted October 15, 2019 Oh and the rubberized leather feels amazing, super happy with the stock strap. It also has omegas deployant which is on my planet ocean so extra strap is hidden.

Perhaps you haven't noticed but supporting a competitive fencer is very expensive, but no fears my silence can be purchased for reasonable cash installments. Edited October 15, 2019 by Augsburger 1 2
SeaWolf Posted October 19, 2019 Report Posted October 19, 2019 Doing my best to plant the seeds with the wife. Started out by looking at a VC chrono next the wife. She says "what another watch?! You just got one a few months ago!". My retort "it's got a pulsation scale so it's a business expense right?". Then I go on to say it's way to expensive for me, she asks what I was thinking of for my next one, I tell her the seamaster bull head. I shift my eyes over with out moving my head and she has moved from FB and is typing that into a note. The question is when she gets me this for Xmas do I tell my AD not to cash the check or do I tell him to keep it as credit for me.. 1 3
Hopstretch Posted October 19, 2019 Report Posted October 19, 2019 Oh what a tangled web we weave ... 1 2
SeaWolf Posted October 19, 2019 Report Posted October 19, 2019 She is also Italian so I have catholic guilt to work with if somehow this strategy fails. 2
