HeadphoneAddict Posted June 5, 2011 Report Posted June 5, 2011 (edited) Well, technically, if it was a safe, most people could have figured that out. Yes, I know, not helping. Sorry. True. But it's similar to one of these that looks like it might just have papers in it: Edited June 5, 2011 by HeadphoneAddict

I've heard nothing but good things on the Steinhart. Might go over to WatchUSeek and do some searching. That second one looks like a IWC Pilot's Chronograph. Looks like a lot of brands are copying it. Edited June 5, 2011 by archosman

I bought this one in April: http://www.steinhartwatches.de/index.php?id=67&artnr=159&Sel_ID=27 Steinhart responded quickly to my initial emails, but later on it wasn't that great, I did have to wait about 5 business days after initial order for the watch to ship. Then came the FedEX nightmare(entirely fedex fault not steinhart, package went to 8 different countries before finally getting to me), I called Steinhart and they were able to fix it very quickly, so in case something happens call them you'll save time. The watch, after it's extremely long trip, came in excellent condition, works well, the manual and quick start leaflet explains things very easily, I'm now afraid to wear it since it's so nice! The lume is excellent as you can see from photos on the watchuseek forums, it's also a thick watch, not heavy but solid, very nice quality. I also bought the crocodile stamp, brown leather bracelet which goes very nicely with the watch(http://www.steinhartwatches.de/index.php?id=67&artnr=244&Sel_ID=20&Sel_Cat_ID=1#244). I know that for this model they have a steel bracelet that costs 60 euros, I didn't order it in the end but it might be of interest to you. oh and shipping is 30 euros, and from what I've read U.S. has to pay customs. crappyjones123 Posted June 5, 2011 Report Posted June 5, 2011 yeah ive been reading about steinhart and barring one person who received a scratched watch with a strap too small for his wrist (despite him telling gunter that he had a big wrist) everyone has given them a 100 for customer service. calling myself hairy would be an understatement so that rules out any metal bracelets - hair gets stuck in the links and results in a rather painful experience. havent had any experience with rubber straps so might look into those but i dont know if they would look too good with a watch like that. when i got my lucien piccard i thought red stitching on black leather would look nice but after having had it for a while i dont wear it too often because i dont like it. might go with white on black or just plain black. shooting him an email. lets see.
HDen Posted June 5, 2011 Report Posted June 5, 2011 I have to say though the default bracelet that comes with the watch is alright but it doesn't do the watch justice, and I don't think rubber would go well with it at all. If you're ordering the black version you can try the black leather bracelets, or you can always buy or diy from somewhere else. A bracelet like the one on archosman's picture would go really well. Also even if you don't see something on the website send an email and ask, they seem to even do custom orders so you never know.
crappyjones123 Posted June 5, 2011 Report Posted June 5, 2011 id love to get one of their marine collection watches but the blue hands put me off. will email him to see if something can be done about the color. perhaps black hands.
Deadneddz Posted June 5, 2011 Report Posted June 5, 2011 (edited) Nice wrist shot Mike! That Doxa looks fantastic. I'm thinking of picking up a custom homage Panerai from Getat. Since Panerai's wear pretty large in general I was afraid the 44mm might be too large on the wrist especially with the crown protector, but when I saw an actual 44mm Panerai in person my worries of it being too large faded away. My wrist is not large, about 6.5-6.75'' Edited June 5, 2011 by Deadneddz
Dusty Chalk Posted June 5, 2011 Author Report Posted June 5, 2011 calling myself hairy would be an understatement so that rules out any metal bracelets - hair gets stuck in the links and results in a rather painful experience. Familiar with that. My tolerance for pain has gone up, though -- when I was a kid, it would put me off from wearing watches at all, but now I'll wear practically anything.
MexicanDragon Posted June 5, 2011 Report Posted June 5, 2011 Did anyone post this one yet, Dusty? **BRENT**
Dusty Chalk Posted June 5, 2011 Author Report Posted June 5, 2011 Don't know if anyone's posted it, but yeah, I saw that one. If I was made of money, I'd buy that whole series: ...well, alright, maybe not the whole series, maybe just the low contrast parts. For those who like more contrast, there are a couple others: I am, however, drooling over a couple others I've seen lately:
Deadneddz Posted June 5, 2011 Report Posted June 5, 2011 Damn....53mm on those Swiss Legend chronograph watches. You guys got some big wrists...
crappyjones123 Posted June 5, 2011 Report Posted June 5, 2011 i just found out the lucien piccard is a 45mm watch. and it seems small to me. guess i have big wrists.
mypasswordis Posted June 5, 2011 Report Posted June 5, 2011 Not that I wear watches (except my Hello Kitty watch), but I have small wrists too. They're slowly growing though, last year they were around 6" flat and now they are same as yours, 6.5-6.75"
deepak Posted June 5, 2011 Report Posted June 5, 2011 I set 40 mm as my cut off point, but with my wrists you can see the protrusion of the end of the ulna bone where it meets the small wrist bones
Salt Peanuts Posted June 5, 2011 Report Posted June 5, 2011 I had to look that one up. It pains me dearly that it costs more than I want to spend on a watch right now.
crappyjones123 Posted June 6, 2011 Report Posted June 6, 2011 measured my wrist out of curiousity. 7.3" around. wrist size has actually gone down since i started working out.
revolink24 Posted June 6, 2011 Report Posted June 6, 2011 Mine are, unfortunately, 6" even. I don't wear anything bigger than 38mm.
archosman Posted June 6, 2011 Report Posted June 6, 2011 Those Swiss Legend watches are huge... like Invicta fucking huge. See them from time to time at TJ Maxx.
Deadneddz Posted June 7, 2011 Report Posted June 7, 2011 (edited) 40mm Seiko Chronograph on 1saleaday Edit: Actually its a 38mm dial since its 40mm including the crown. So may be a bit too small for some. Edited June 7, 2011 by Deadneddz

grawk Posted June 21, 2011 Report Posted June 21, 2011 My $20 Smith and Wesson PAM homage came yesterday. Japanese Miyota Quartz movement, decent lum (not tritium, but for $20)
