Is it possible that there is not a dedicated podcast thread yet?

https://crooked.com/podcast-series/wind-of-change/

It’s 1990. The Berlin Wall has just come down. The Soviet Union is on the verge of collapse. A heavy metal band from West Germany, the Scorpions, releases a power ballad, “Wind of Change.” The song becomes the soundtrack to the peaceful revolution sweeping Europe — and one of the biggest rock singles ever. According to some fans, it’s the song that ended the Cold War.

Decades later, New Yorker writer Patrick Radden Keefe hears a rumor from a source: the Scorpions didn’t actually write “Wind of Change.” The CIA did...

Good idea for a thread.  I'll be listening to the one that you posted.

Have you ever seen a movie so bad that it’s amazing? Paul Scheer, June Diane Raphael and Jason Mantzoukas want to hear about it! We’ll watch it with our funniest friends, and report back to you with the results.

I've enjoyed Michael Lewis' Against the Rules podcast the past two seasons. If you enjoy Michael's written work, you'll be right at home.

First season was on the role of referees in American society, the second season was on the role of coaches.

I just listened to the first episode of “Winds of Change”,@dsavitsk, and I’m hooked. His description of information security runs very close to my experience working in highly classified spaces — there is no “all access pass” to the good stuff. Lots of times the people who know the good stuff have no idea how good it is.

I am pleased to announce that the life changing podcast you have all been waiting for is slowly going public. Only the trailer is up so far and only on Spotify, but they are coming.

Prepare for enlightenment

No "Equipment Used", with affiliate links in the "About"?  No "The Making Of/ Behind The Scenes" accompanying (youtube) video?  feel somewhat dissapoint/I've been hanging with the "wrong kind" of content creators, and should get out more. Obs.

The Vanishing of Harry Pace: https://www.wnycstudios.org/podcasts/radiolab/projects/vanishing-harry-pace

Quote

It was Motown before Motown, FUBU before FUBU: Black Swan Records. The label founded 100 years ago by Harry Pace. Pace launched the career of Ethel Waters, inadvertently invented the term rock n roll, played an important role in W.C. Handy becoming "Father of the Blues," inspired Ebony and Jet magazines, and helped desegregate the South Side of Chicago in an epic Supreme Court battle. Then, he disappeared.  The Vanishing of Harry Pace is a series about the phenomenal but forgotten man who changed America. It's a story about betrayal, family, hidden identities, and a time like no other.

I've actually been listening to more podcasts in the car, because it takes too much attention to listen while I work or while I study, which seems to be 100% of my waking life these days.

...are my two favourites/most frequently listened.   I've also listened to a couple of these -- I think they're at their best when Rachel joins them (Animals, Tales of Mystery and Imagination by Edgar Allan Poe), but they're even enjoyable when they do albums they don't like (Blackwater Park😞

A couple I'm intending to listen:

I'll definitely give that Ricky Gervais one a listen...

I don't know how much interest this will have here, but if you are interested in law and/or policy discussions, the Lawfare Podcast is generally highly recommended. Sadly, the best podcast out of Lawfare just ended because two of the three commentators went to work for the Biden administration. That said, this recent episode on the police state in Xinjiang and the treatment of the Uyghurs there, and elsewhere, is interesting, horrible, and terrifying. Definitely worth a listen.

Another fun legal-ish one to follow is John Carryrou's Bad Blood podcast. He is the reporter who broke the stories in the WSJ that took out Theranos, and subsequently wrote a book about it. He is going to be following the day to day of the trail (at which he himself may be called to testify) which kicks off next week.

It should be interesting, to say the least! First two episodes came out last night so this is hot off the press.

If anyone is a fan of Jon Ronson (Them: Adventures with Extremists, The Men Who Stare at Goats, The Psychopath Test: A Journey Through the Madness Industry), he's got a pretty interesting, compassionate, easy-to-digest BBC4 podcast, called Things Fell Apart, about specific origins in the Culture Wars. I'm sure everyone will have a different favorite, but the collision of second wave feminism with third wave might be mine.
