Salt Peanuts Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 Pre-ordered the Blue Note 45 Hoffman Blue Train. I won't let this one slip away from me, that's for sure. You know, I'm tempted to order one for when I get back into the vinyl game again.
ojnihs Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 I have to get my hair cut every 2.5 weeks, my hair grows ridiculously fast, and I hate it when it isn't short

OverlordXenu Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 I got a new lens a few days ago. Nikon/Nikkor 24-120mm VR (plus all the fancy letters that make it super-awesome).
laxx Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 What kind of cables are those in the middle right pic?
grawk Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 What kind of cables are those in the middle right pic? Good question, any others?
laxx Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 hMm... I hated them when I had them (E500). The bass was nice, but the highs are just...
n_maher Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 hMm... I hated them when I had them (E500). The bass was nice, but the highs are just... Yeah, but you're a K701 disciple so that must be factored appropriately.
Smeggy Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 yeah, the SE530s have proper treble, not way too much. keep in mind that i'm a speaker guy: properly built speaker systems have treble presentations that are very different from headphones, generally being airier and more laid back. kinda like live music. the 530s get the laid back treble part right (hard to do airy with an IEM), but it extends as far as it needs to and is nicely detailed. these sound pretty similar to the HD650s, in my opinion. they are a little more sensitive than they need to be (just like the E5s), but you get used to it. I gave my E5s away and traded my 580s for being dull. I like a bit more treble to compensate for my fucked ears.
ojnihs Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 in fact, i think the 530s do all the Etymotic stuff better than the Etys, while also doing all that Shure stuff fuck i'm in trouble
ojnihs Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 yeah, i think you are. they are really nice, i'm glad i bought them. they come in a cool aluminum box, too. they do the ety thing better than the etys? fuck, i love the etys, but if there are better etys, then i must get them. plus i've always hated how the etys stick out of your ears, unlike the shures.
Smeggy Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 well, the 530s are a lot better than the E5s. they are quite balanced across the whole spectrum, which the E5s, while fun, certainly weren't. in fact, i think the 530s do all the Etymotic stuff better than the Etys, while also doing all that Shure stuff. i hate to be "that guy," but how were you amping the 580s? I ran them from my Nad, my Panny, a Gilmore Lite and my Hafler through a ASL headphone transformer and other sundry devices. They always kept the same sound sig and I just don't like it.
Smeggy Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 I love my Ety ER4S, but to wear them for any length I'd need new ears cos mine get itchy.
gtp Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 I got my SE530s today Headroom to SoCal in one day!!! They are very good, but I view them more as a compliment to my Etys, not a replacement. Very simply: when I want bass, I have the SE530, and when I want treble, I have the Etys.
gtp Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 I love my Ety ER4S, but to wear them for any length I'd need new ears cos mine get itchy. The Ety rubber triflanges can get itchy for me too. Did you try Shure olives?

JBLoudG20 Posted February 20, 2008 Author Report Posted February 20, 2008 Reks, where did you get the 530? I have been interested in them ever since I got rid of the triple.fi for its fit issues.
