Fitz
Finally broke down and used my last paycheck to order parts for a new PC. One can only deal with playing 2-3 year old games at low framerates on mediocre settings for so long. I've been out of the loop too long so who knows how poorly I chose, but I ended up ordering dual gtx560s, i5-2500k, 8gb ram, 115gb ssd, 2tb hdd, etc, plus the various other sundries to make it all work. livewire
Yep, new version, leather band. Deal was OK, considering I purchased them to a guy in Spain, so shipping is inexpensive and there are 0 custom fees involved. I should receive them by Wednesday or Thursday if payment clears as expected. Nice! Cant wait to hear your impressions.
livewire
Mailman just dropped by with a new HP Touchpad 32gb. Sweet alternative to the iPad at 1/3 the original retail price. Too bad the apps will be limited to what's out there now. Oh well, it's just another "disposable" commodity that serves my needs just fine. So now you're going to dominate on steam? What's the peak power draw on this beast likely to be? (and how much time does that give you on your ups) pics please. Fitz
So now you're going to dominate on steam? What's the peak power draw on this beast likely to be? (and how much time does that give you on your ups) pics please. Maybe not dominate, but at least I'll get owned in beautiful high FPS HD. I think it'll peak somewhere between 500-600 watts at full load, depending on how I clock the CPU and GPUs, although real world peak usage is likely to be a fair bit less. I'll probably need a new UPS to be able to stay in-game during a power outage though. Sounds like a real gaming beast! Who makes a 115GB SSD? A last gen Corsair one. It's a temporary thing for OS and my main apps/games, until prices come down even more when I'll replace it with a better quality one that can also hold all my apps/games and just use the 2TB for media storage. laxx
laxx, thanks for the link. This info will help lots! It makes such a big difference. There's a few more tweaks out there that you can do, but link covers 99% of them. I overclocked min with F15C Eagle to 1.7 Ghz and it's a world's difference. I'm really enjoying mine. Is there something similar that makes motorcycles? That would be more useful for me. Edited August 29, 2011 by guzziguy
