mikeymad Posted July 26, 2011 Report Posted July 26, 2011 damn, son. that Linkwood, especially, should be really good stuff. i had a cask strength '85 (bottled in 2005) that was out of this world good. i have not had Scotch whisky in nearly 7 months. i need to fix that. Big Linkwood fan - looking forward to the Adelphi.
mikeymad Posted July 26, 2011 Report Posted July 26, 2011 I don't know why I unbox these things at work... makes me thirsty at my desk
shellylh Posted July 27, 2011 Report Posted July 27, 2011 Nice shipment Mikey! Mike: Love the shoes. They remind me of the NB WT100 that I love but moar better. I am going to order a pair today.
Dreadhead Posted July 27, 2011 Report Posted July 27, 2011 Long distance tracking system for my cat and dog: This way we can track them down in the country. I think for the first time in years I may be able to let my dog off leash Got this today. Pretty ficking cool other than you look like a nutter walking around with the tracker. No more lost cat, ever
Salt Peanuts Posted July 27, 2011 Report Posted July 27, 2011 ^ Funny, though I'm sure I'd get something like that if we had outdoor cats. Outdoor cats around here tend to become coyote food so ours stay inside.
skullguise Posted July 27, 2011 Report Posted July 27, 2011 Got me some of the gin that luvdunhill asked me to send to him and morphsci; when I special ordered it they only had two bottles for me and I sent them both out, but found another one locally in stock. Haven't opened it yet....
shellylh Posted July 27, 2011 Report Posted July 27, 2011 I tried that when Marc was in Houston a few days ago. It was pretty nice.
morphsci Posted July 27, 2011 Report Posted July 27, 2011 I like the Gale Force, not as refined as Blackwoods but I want to do a taste-off with North Shore 6 and 11.
skullguise Posted July 28, 2011 Report Posted July 28, 2011 Jim, can you note any comparison to Hendrick's? That's what I've had most recently.....did open the Blackwoods just to try it, but wasn't the best of conditions, just poured a tiny bit into an OJ glass
morphsci Posted July 28, 2011 Report Posted July 28, 2011 (edited) Jim, can you note any comparison to Hendrick's? That's what I've had most recently.....did open the Blackwoods just to try it, but wasn't the best of conditions, just poured a tiny bit into an OJ glass Hendricks has a cucumber and a bit of pepper taste to it. The Gale force has more juniper (but not like Junipero) flavor. Hendricks to me is an outlier among gins flavor wise. Not that that is a bad thing or I wouldn't have a bottle of Hendricks in the house. When I was getting back into gin, both Shelly and Al suggested using a Blanc vermouth rather than dry when making a Hendricks Martini. That was an excellent suggestion. I've drunk quite a bit of gin out of all kinds of non approved glassware, just not very good gin and not recently. Edited July 28, 2011 by morphsci
tyrion Posted July 28, 2011 Report Posted July 28, 2011 Shelly, they are like the five fingers without the five fingers and much higher WAF. Colin, nice camera.
CD44hi Posted July 28, 2011 Report Posted July 28, 2011 Got a nuforce hdp to use at work. Not bad for the money.
Grahame Posted July 28, 2011 Report Posted July 28, 2011 Nice Camera Colin, just remember to disable the GPS on those covert missions and to think, you could have had the pink one, instead We expect all your sous-vide's to be georeferenced from now on
Fitz Posted July 28, 2011 Report Posted July 28, 2011 Shelly, they are like the five fingers without the five fingers and much higher WAF. And actually look nice.
shellylh Posted July 28, 2011 Report Posted July 28, 2011 Shelly, they are like the five fingers without the five fingers and much higher WAF. Colin, nice camera. Ordered, can't wait to try them out!
Voltron Posted July 28, 2011 Report Posted July 28, 2011 Those are cool shoes Mike and Shelly. I am tempted, whereas I never even thought about getting the Five Fingers. How is the heel/in-sole Mike? I think I have plantar fasciitis and should get more support than my usual flat as hell soles.
