tyrion Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 (edited) 16 GB 3G iPad for my wife's birthday. 1 full slab of Cesar Stone for bathroom countertop. Hopefully we will have enough leftover to use in the master bath next year. 4 more boxes of 18 x 18 tiles to cover bottom half of walls and extra bull nose Edited August 25, 2010 by tyrion
Salt Peanuts Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 1 full slab of Cesar Stone for bathroom countertops Nice! Pics? They've got a color called Apple Martini that we both loved but couldn't justify getting it when we fixed up our kitchen as it would have cost us more than the rest of the kitchen (w/o appliances).
tyrion Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 Our granite guy is supposed to come by today or tomorrow to make his template. I figure it will go in next week. This is it so far. New toilet not yet installed:
Nebby Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 I really like that stain color, any chance of a close up/better picture?
tyrion Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 Thanks. I will take one with my camera tonight. Those were done with my iPhone.
Voltron Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 Looking good, Mike. We are just about to start the bathroom remodel. I think we are going to have a big chunky slate counter. Reminds me to do some before pics. It is the last original room in the house, and hasn't changed much since 1936 when it was built. All the rest has been updated and remodeled, so it will be a little sad to see it go on the one hand and a much-needed improvement on the other.
tyrion Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 Too bad you aren't closer, as I could probably get you some deals on some of the stuff you will be buying. We were going to go with granite but it was too much of a pain to match and most of it was too busy to go with the sinks, which are pretty busy themselves.
Voltron Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 Yeah, I think that was a good choice. If you combined that sink with your granite kitchen counter, then people would have seizures in your bathroom like those Japanese kids watching fucked up cartoons.
tyrion Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 You mean watching cartoons, while fucked up. Slate should be nice. I don't think we considered that for the bathroom.
Voltron Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 Maybe that was it. The slate should be cool, although the wood veneer may be the most interesting part if we stick with the plan. Attached is a rendering that is not up to date but attempts to show that kind of veneer we like for the cabinets. Seems like something Tice would approve.
Salt Peanuts Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 Al's got it right, mostly. It was a cartoon where there was a scene with fast flashing lights/colors in succession, resulting in some kids having seizures.
tyrion Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 Very nice. Gail was trying to keep everything on the simple side so that she could go with those sinks, which she fell in love with. Salty, I remember that, just an attempt at humor.
Salt Peanuts Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 at my internet reading comprehension fail.
tyrion Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 or at my attempt at humor. Still trying to buy an Amarra 4 but Sonic Studios is playing hard to get.
aardvark baguette Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 You have more counter space in your bathroom than I do in my kitchen /envious
swt61 Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 Love the cabinetry and the flooring, and the copper/tile sink is brilliant! Is that marble on the floor Mike? I'm glad people are going back to dark cabinets. I'm so tired of the light wood phase.
swt61 Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 Seems like something Tice would approve. Indeed!

I'm glad people are going back to dark cabinets. I'm so tired of the light wood phase. Indeed! They originally proposed some light-ass wood and darker tile and we said "Fuck that!" The counter is supposed to be slate and the tile is TBD but will likely be from Heath Ceramics in Marin. Edited August 25, 2010 by Voltron
naamanf Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 I prefer the darker wood as well. Both Mike's and Al's bathrooms look like they are going to turn out very nice.
morphsci Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 Nice toilettes, gentlemen. I picked up this for $30 at the local liquor store. They must have had at least 20 in the display.
emelius Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 place your bets now...will they make it to see x-mas?...or even early december?...

I'm glad people are going back to dark cabinets. I'm so tired of the light wood phase. The floor is tile. The sinks look better in person and might be the single most expensive component of the bathroom.
The Monkey Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 By the way, it feels like we are moments away from the 'Post a Picture of Your Can!' thread.
