postjack Posted November 1, 2007 Report Posted November 1, 2007 Miles Davis, The Complete On The Corner Sessions sweet, how is it?
Dusty Chalk Posted November 1, 2007 Report Posted November 1, 2007 So far: pretty (I haven't opened it yet). All those people cartoons on the cover have been hammered outwards from the inside. Very textual, but I suspect if I keep it alongside anything else, they'll start to rub off on whatever it's next to.
hungrych Posted November 2, 2007 Report Posted November 2, 2007 How much did you pay for it? The amazon price averages out to like 20 bucks per cd!
Dusty Chalk Posted November 2, 2007 Report Posted November 2, 2007 Like $50...sort of. Borders screwed up my "Borders Bucks" account, and late on 10/29 informed me that I had two days to spend $40. Combine that with the 30% coupon they put out Tuesday and Wednesday, and I thought to myself, I think I can do that. Although I had to collect all my nickels and dimes and pennies and deposit them ($75 in change) to cover it, as I had just borrowed a small amount to keep my account from going into the red. I really need to learn to manage my money better. I make good money, I just keep spending it. Okay, listened to the first two disks, on the third. So far, so funky. I'm actually liking this better than Bitches Brew, the last time I listened to it.
PFKMan23 Posted November 4, 2007 Report Posted November 4, 2007 Nice speakers jbsauce. You willl have some excellent synergy with heavy lifting.

postjack Posted November 5, 2007 Report Posted November 5, 2007 Happy day! I just picked up a Parker "51" Aerometric Demonstrator and a Parker "51" Flighter, both at great prices.
Salt Peanuts Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 Hehe, I would love to see what is inside those. I got mine and I opened it up. It's basically an Alps Blue Velvet with wires connecting the pot and the RCA outs.

JBLoudG20 Posted November 7, 2007 Author Report Posted November 7, 2007 Here's a pic. Wow I hope it wasn't expensive.
Salt Peanuts Posted November 7, 2007 Report Posted November 7, 2007 Wow I hope it wasn't expensive. I bought it used, so it really wasn't. Even new, they're $135 to $160, IIRC.
Grand Enigma Posted November 7, 2007 Report Posted November 7, 2007 It really is a rather decent preamp. There is about $40-50 in parts and the used value usually isn't much more than that so it is a decent deal.
Nanoha Posted November 7, 2007 Report Posted November 7, 2007 Hehe, that is exactly what I guessed was in the box.
Chekhonte Posted November 7, 2007 Report Posted November 7, 2007 I found this bitching lamp at an antique store at 50% off. I only payed $40 in the end.

n_maher Posted November 12, 2007 Report Posted November 12, 2007 nice! i have a 2000 VR6, though i'm coming up on 100k miles. love it, though. I had a '97 Jetta GLX/VR6, man that car had some balls. Too bad it was absolutely worthless in anything more than a dusting of snow.
en480c4 Posted November 12, 2007 Report Posted November 12, 2007 nice! i have a 2000 VR6, though i'm coming up on 100k miles. love it, though. I'm liking it so far. I've had a '00 Jetta with the VR6 and an '01.5 Passat with the V6. The 1.8T seems to be a fun little motor, even if it is lacking the low end grunt the VR6 had. It's a nice little compromise with the looming mortgage payments... I wanted to downgrade from my Grand Cherokee Overland, but didn't want to get something I'd tire of quickly. The GTI seemed like a good choice... Fun to drive, leather + heated seats, and low, low miles, and I'm paying considerably less for it.
