JBLoudG20 Posted December 29, 2008 Author Report Posted December 29, 2008 Ugh, I'm really torn on the PS3 issue once again and the fact that Sony is essentially offering $150 rebate right now (if you sign up for their CC) is pure torture. New Call of Duty. Enough said.

swt61 Posted December 29, 2008 Report Posted December 29, 2008 I may get the Moon Audio Stage 3 mods, but I'll probably wait until my Buffalo DAC is built, because I'm guessing I'll prefer that.
Sherwood Posted December 29, 2008 Report Posted December 29, 2008 Wow! That's a serious-looking cdp, Steve! Original '08 Mk. II?

swt61 Posted December 29, 2008 Report Posted December 29, 2008 Wow! That's a serious-looking cdp, Steve! Original '08 Mk. II? Yes Sir. I picked it up for $450.00, so I couldn't resist. I have a PM into philodox, as he has the stage 2 modded unit. I'd like to know as much as possible about the sound signature with the Lundahl transformer based output in the modded units.
diebenkorn Posted December 29, 2008 Report Posted December 29, 2008 That is an awesome deal, I have not heard the player unmodded but I had a chance to compare it with an exemplar 3910, and the exemplar was better at the top and bottom and a little more precise (an excellent player) but I thought the moon had better mids and was more musical to my ears.
swt61 Posted December 29, 2008 Report Posted December 29, 2008 Thanks guys! Let me know how it sounds with the Buffalo, I have the same player (with the stage 3 mods). It will probably be a while before I have the Buffalo, as naamanf and I are still waiting on TPA parts that may not be available anytime soon. How would you describe the Stage 3 mods sound signature? Would you call it a hot source? I'd call my Beta22 amp a fairly warm signature for SS, and I'm curious how the Stage 3 would be in my system. It still uses OpAmps in HDCD mode though, correct?

Musicality is more important to me than technical prowess. And I don't hear much over 15000 Khz. anymore anyway. The main cans in this system will be K1000.
guzziguy Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 Lots of veterinary care for our oldest cat (12.5 years). We hospitalized him very early Xmas morning. The vet thinks he can come home tomorrow. Yay!

guzziguy Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 Sorry to hear that. Glad he's coming home! Thanks, we are too. We might have edged ahead of removing your kid's wisdom teeth in the contest to see who can spend the most on health care this month.

I had a dog hospitalized overnight, I can imagine the bill you received. Now that I think of it, my daughter get braces on Wed. for the third time. I think I may have you beat or close.
Hopstretch Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 A new Lexus for the Mrs. at $8,500 off sticker. Someone might as well profit from Autogeddon.
tyrion Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 A new Lexus for the Mrs. at $8,500 off sticker. Someone might as well profit from Autogeddon. My problem is I'm looking for a small car for my son and those are selling so the deals aren't so good.
Sherwood Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 Get your son an obscenely large car, then. ...I'll get my coat.
tyrion Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 Get your son an obscenely large car, then. ...I'll get my coat. Good idea. Do they still make the Suburban?
Sherwood Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 It's now 40% larger and called the Exurban, but pretty much yeah. May as well just spring for the front portion of a semi truck, though. That's a life skill.
