boomana Posted July 29, 2008 Report Posted July 29, 2008 well I need to do math and they dont allow calculators, so I need to bring in paper and pencil IF they dont have those stupid ass whiteboards + markers/erasers I don't know if things have changed, but back when I took it you weren't allowed to bring in paper or pencils. You might have devious cheating codes inscribed on said tools. The test folks supply everything, but only give you three sheets of scrap paper at a time, and you have to turn them in at the end of the test, so I advise against writing stray death threats or psychotic ramblings as a tension release.

I dont know where I read that I should bring my own scrap paper.
n_maher Posted July 29, 2008 Report Posted July 29, 2008 Yeah, I have a sniping account too, I just didn't have time to set it up for the auction. We'll find out if my luck is any better in 22 minutes.
n_maher Posted July 29, 2008 Report Posted July 29, 2008 It wasn't meant to be, the auction went up over $100 in the last minute. And did I mention that the one that I wanted to buy on Saturday sold for less than half of what the one tonight did?
Dusty Chalk Posted July 29, 2008 Report Posted July 29, 2008 I love the sudden detail on that one -- it's like bad CGI in the movies.
Fitz Posted July 29, 2008 Report Posted July 29, 2008 Would'ya believe I spent $280 on this fecking thing, and that's after I got the price dropped a fair bit:
morphsci Posted July 29, 2008 Report Posted July 29, 2008 how important is the essay on the gre? the essays on the mcat really don't matter, since most of the med schools don't give a shit how well you did on the essay portion. Ah, that explains a lot. It really doesnt matter (or thats what people say) but I would at least like to have a finished essay I wouldn't count on it. It depends a lot on where you go and who you want to work with in graduate school. I personally weight the verbal more than the analytical since IMO it's easier to teach the latter than the former at that stage.
ojnihs Posted July 29, 2008 Report Posted July 29, 2008 "me want be doctor. me help sick people. me deal with HMO. me have stethoscope. the end." jin, you should try to "sirsumvent" the rules, and bring your own mechanical pencils
jinp6301 Posted July 29, 2008 Report Posted July 29, 2008 I guess no one likes the clicky sound of the pencils or something.
boomana Posted July 29, 2008 Report Posted July 29, 2008 jin, you should try to "sirsumvent" the rules, and bring your own mechanical pencils I don't think they let you bring in any pencils, or at least they didn't when I took it, though I brought some with me as well. Nothing at all. Had to lock everything you had on you in a locker. Kleenex wasn't even allowed, and I had a cold that day.
jinp6301 Posted July 29, 2008 Report Posted July 29, 2008 I gave the testing place a call, and wood pencils are allowed but mechanical pencils are not. and no paper allowed either.
jinp6301 Posted July 29, 2008 Report Posted July 29, 2008 I'll give them a call tomorrow and ask them. "can I bring animal hides to the test?" "WTF?"

JBLoudG20 Posted July 29, 2008 Author Report Posted July 29, 2008 It depends a lot on who you want to work with in graduate school. Bingo.
saint.panda Posted July 29, 2008 Report Posted July 29, 2008 Bought my first golf club, some kind of beginner iron for the driving range. Just had my third lesson today because my uncle is getting them for free. Never thought I'd touch a golf club before the age of 50 but it's surprisingly fun to play.
