en480c4 Posted August 11, 2007 Report Posted August 11, 2007 Can't post the last thing I bought, it's Ian's birthday present and shall remain a surprise until I deliver it. I do enjoy torturing him though so I thought I'd post about it in this thread. Bastard!!!
deepak Posted August 11, 2007 Report Posted August 11, 2007 Just got a new CPU X2 3800+ More like you need a C2D
MrSlacker Posted August 11, 2007 Report Posted August 11, 2007 More like you need a C2D heh yeah... but now with X2 I will be able to hold off a full upgrade for another year.. plus it was only $50
deepak Posted August 11, 2007 Report Posted August 11, 2007 heh yeah... but now with X2 I will be able to hold off a full upgrade for another year.. plus it was only $50 I'm only joking, the lower X2s are a great deal. Especially when overclocked.
n_maher Posted August 11, 2007 Report Posted August 11, 2007 Nice, I have a couple of RCA's similar to the ones on the end of your line, pretty nice sounding tube in my book. Unfortunately one of mine is getting noisy and will need replacement soon. I really need a tube tester!
grawk Posted August 11, 2007 Report Posted August 11, 2007 The bottom getter one? Those are I THINK sylvania made VT231s. Or as close as I could identify it anyway.
MrSlacker Posted August 11, 2007 Report Posted August 11, 2007 I'm only joking, the lower X2s are a great deal. Especially when overclocked. hell yeah! this one suppose to be pretty damn good OCer
Salt Peanuts Posted August 12, 2007 Report Posted August 12, 2007 Cardas XLR female to RCA female adaptors
Grand Enigma Posted August 12, 2007 Report Posted August 12, 2007 Cardas XLR female to RCA female adaptors Bad... the BAT ones are better
Salt Peanuts Posted August 12, 2007 Report Posted August 12, 2007 Bad... the BAT ones are better Wasn't aware BAT made them.
Salt Peanuts Posted August 12, 2007 Report Posted August 12, 2007 Wasn't aware BAT made them. Wait, yes, I did! I saw them on Music Direct catalog only last week. Dmanit, damnit, damnit!
n_maher Posted August 12, 2007 Report Posted August 12, 2007 Wait, yes, I did! I saw them on Music Direct catalog only last week. Dmanit, damnit, damnit! I'm sensing you should return the Cardas adapters if at all possible.
n_maher Posted August 12, 2007 Report Posted August 12, 2007 Delivered Ian's gift this morning so I can finally post this: SMCWAA-G EZ Stream 802.11g Wireless Audio Adapter Basically a less expensive version of the SB3, can be found for way less than even the MSRP if you're willing to dig. Stock it'll only stream MP3s but for a desktop rig that works for me. Also, thanks to the folks at DIYAudio it was discovered that you can mod the unit pretty simply to have an optical digital output. That'll be one of my next projects since I followed the military model when I picked this up for Ian. Why buy one when you can get two for twice the price? Should make a killer addition to the soldering rig.
deepak Posted August 12, 2007 Report Posted August 12, 2007 Bought digipete's NIN - Downward Spiral SACD yesterday. And my second attempt at buying the new Modest Mouse record since Newbury was out of stock last time. And I have a secret project planned for one of my headphones that will go into effect on Monday
deepak Posted August 12, 2007 Report Posted August 12, 2007 Oh my snipe went through The Flaming Lips - At War With the Mystics CD/DVD-A set.

I had the HTPC already loaded with my entire digital library, so now being able to access it in the other room is just the icing on the cake. And it sounds pretty damn good right out of the box. I'm enjoying some Trauma Pet as I type! Thanks again Nate!

There is a program called TVersity that allows you to transcode lossless files to wav files and send it via EZ-stream... makes it an even better bang for the buck
n_maher Posted August 12, 2007 Report Posted August 12, 2007 I'd read a bit about the FLAC transcoding capabilities which indeed sound intriguing and this thing already had mad bang for the buck. .
