n_maher Posted February 9, 2008 Report Posted February 9, 2008 After waiting for 2 weeks for a part to come into stock at Markertek I'd had enough and placed two orders today with separate parts vendors so that I can get busy with a couple long-overdue cable projects and so I can avoid further public ridicule.
deepak Posted February 9, 2008 Report Posted February 9, 2008 Not NR'ed like the MFSL and current remaster. Damn SH forums sending me to the poor house
Smeggy Posted February 10, 2008 Report Posted February 10, 2008 millet max Ah, nice. I'm none too good at recognizing these things with their clothes off. hYdrociTy, what kind of casing are you planning on?
Salt Peanuts Posted February 10, 2008 Report Posted February 10, 2008 Very nice, Reks. We have few Shun knives and we love them.
Salt Peanuts Posted February 10, 2008 Report Posted February 10, 2008 Nice, Damascus steel? VG-10 stainless steel is clad with 16 layers of SUS410 high-carbon steel on each side, producing a 33-layer rust-free Damascus look. VG-10 is a fantastic knife steel, IME.
deepak Posted February 10, 2008 Report Posted February 10, 2008 Sweet. Good knives are nice. And it looks kick ass.
Augsburger Posted February 10, 2008 Report Posted February 10, 2008 Great buy Reks. I have a Shun as well. They are razor sharp out of the box and need just a few minutes with a #1000 stone to polish the edge back to near razor sharpness. A great balance of carbon and chromium, just enough chromium to keep it stainless and enough carbon to keep the edge for longer that a few tomatoes. Sweet!
n_maher Posted February 10, 2008 Report Posted February 10, 2008 Trying not to get too excited but it looks like I'm close to closing a deal on a transport that I've been searching for forever. It will mean more changes to the rig but will be one step closer to the overall goal of consolidation.

n_maher Posted February 10, 2008 Report Posted February 10, 2008 YAY NATE We'll see, evidently Canadians don't check their email every 10 minutes like I do.

Or will that be on the block for something different/bigger/better/cooler/flashier? Anyone here had experience with the Birdland DACs?
n_maher Posted February 10, 2008 Report Posted February 10, 2008 So Nate, when you say "transport" does that mean you intend to keep the Hertsens? Or will that be on the block for something different/bigger/better/cooler/flashier?The Hertsens will never be sold. In my end-game rig that's my primary digital front end coupled to my SB3 and the "transport to be named later". I currently have two other digital front ends, one of which I was using as a transport (the Arcam CD73) and the other I was using whenever I felt like it (the Wadia). If the purchase goes through for the new transport and it works well I'll find new homes for both of the other players. Anyone here had experience with the Birdland DACs? I don't trust any company that only has renderings of a product on their website.

n_maher Posted February 10, 2008 Report Posted February 10, 2008 Time to do the tkam yet?? Nope, no Canadian email yet. [me=Vince]grumbles...[/me]
swt61 Posted February 10, 2008 Report Posted February 10, 2008 Vince buddy, He's probably seen your email and is replying, but with all those extra U's they put in their words like colour and flavour, it takes much longer to type out a reply.
n_maher Posted February 10, 2008 Report Posted February 10, 2008 This one? You'd think, coming from Canada, that it'd be something messed up like that wouldn't you? But no, it's pretty pedestrian really.
Salt Peanuts Posted February 10, 2008 Report Posted February 10, 2008 Shun 7" Santoku for the girl - the same one Reks bought.
