manaox2 Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 Bunch of 2 x $50 Hyatt Check Certificatestm for $79.99 from Costco in SF to help with CJ. Every little helps. Any prospective savings were offset by excessive unplanned purchases at said Costco.* *We'll just get a few things we need. ooh, these are a real bargain ... we could do with some of these ... . At checkout ... how did that just happen? Those are only good for hotel room services, not the room fee I believe.
Grahame Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 (edited) Those are only good for hotel room services, not the room fee I believe. Opinions vary ( see the epic thread Costco selling Hyatt Check Certificates (Not Applicable to Pre-paid Rates) - FlyerTalk Forums for more opinions ) . If it works, good. If not, i kept the receipt, so can take them back to Costco for a full refund. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Edit: looks like I was both lucky, and a mere amateur http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/13977023-post1058.html . Someone understands the concept of arbitrage (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arbitrage) Edited May 24, 2010 by Grahame
Knuckledragger Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 3x diffuser domes for my 580EX speedlite. I'm probably going to end up buying a few more + remote cord before the week is out. I also need a timer remote.
Salt Peanuts Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 ^ Kinda looks like Christmas lights. How many different colored diffusers are there? On topic, I bought a bottle of Robitussin for the damn cough and sore throat that just won't go away.
Knuckledragger Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 ^ Kinda looks like Christmas lights. How many different colored diffusers are there? Those are the main three. Srs bsns photographers use larger diffusers that have a gel frame on the front surface, and then use whatever color and density gel they want (1/2 and 1/4 CTO gels are popular.) I considered going that route (and may end up doing it yet) but I don't really any anything that big, ungainly and fragile inside the chaotic environment of a nightclub. I've got a long-ish post about strobes I've been meaning to write in the Photography thread, but I haven't quite gotten around to it.
Salt Peanuts Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 I bought a flash with my body, but haven't really gotten around to using it. I really should start learning it.
Salt Peanuts Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 That is one thing I do remember. Thanks mostly to Nate, actually - I overheard him talking about it at the meet at Casa Stretch and it stuck with me for some reason.
cetoole Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 Lodge 8" preseasoned skillet. Hefty, would do a number on someone's noggin.
Augsburger Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 Al, how are the Le Reviseur Cognac and the Pellehaut Armagnac? I need to place a KL order soon and find that I am out of Cognac and almost out of Armagnac.
MexicanDragon Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 Lodge 8" preseasoned skillet. Hefty, would do a number on someone's noggin. Heh. I went to school about 4 minutes from the Lodge factory, and was a year behind the younger Lodge (early 30s now). Good skillet, douchey kid. **BRENT**
Iron_Dreamer Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 Time for some new hiking boots, my last pair having bowed down to the rubber-eating granite gods:
Iron_Dreamer Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 if used to be you could easily get boots resoled. not even worth the trouble, now. Yeah, it'd probably be at least 50% the cost of replacements anyway. My understanding is that generally by the time the soles, or uppers are pretty thrashed, the all-important midsole has been toast for quite a while. The last 15-mile hike I did, they were getting pretty uncomfortable, so I knew their time had come. I probably got 350 miles or so out of that pair, not too bad for traversing a lot of unforgiving igneous.
Dusty Chalk Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 Yeah, it'd probably be at least 50% the cost of replacements anyway. it did't used to be that wayThis.
Iron_Dreamer Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 Well, I didn't really look into it too heavily, but the couple of things I looked up were pointing that way. Anyway, that was my first proper set of hiking boots, and knowing what I know now, I wouldn't have chosen the ones I did then. But I certainly got to a lot of very enjoyable places with them, so it wasn't all bad.
Aimless1 Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 A place to store firewood, bikes, chairs and etc at the camp site 2 bags for the yard
aardvark baguette Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 Blu Ray: The Road Breaking Bad Season 1 Breaking Bad Season 2 The Edge The Fly Eraser Ghostbusters Wayne's World
n_maher Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 Eraser This puzzles me. The alligator was already one of the all time epic fail special effects, I can't imagine the BR transfer makes it any better.
Salt Peanuts Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 Another pair of sneakers. Eventually I'll find a pair that fits me well.
Voltron Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 This puzzles me. The alligator was already one of the all time epic fail special effects, I can't imagine the BR transfer makes it any better. I literally have no recollection of that movie at all, and I have seen most of Arnie's movies.
aardvark baguette Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 I had to google the scene myself, I havent seen the movie in years. Worth it
n_maher Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 I literally have no recollection of that movie at all, and I have seen most of Arnie's movies. It's not very memorable, at least not from what I remember.
Dusty Chalk Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 That's actually one of my more favorite Arnie movies, though I have to admit, I don't know why. There were a couple times that it came on cable, I ended up getting stuck in it all over again.
