Knuckledragger Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D. My first prime! But this is a terrible slippery slope that I now find myself on...... Nice. You'll want to look at the 35mm F/2 next.
Beefy Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 Nice. You'll want to look at the 35mm F/2 next. Son of a...... I've got to learn how to use this lens effectively first. Actually using it at f/1.8 is proving to be quite a test of my still-undeveloped-skills
cetoole Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 You call that a razor? This is what I call a razor: Actually, yeah, I use one like yours, though I have the other one too.

kevin gilmore Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 I had to have it. I love mechanical things that are guaranteed to cause me grief in the future. http://gilmore.chem.northwestern.edu/jhseaclock.jpg
Duggeh Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 holy small jpg from gilmore, batman And if you look carefully, you'll see that batman is in fact standing behind him.

n_maher Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 Heh, you guys and your fancy clocks. All I want is a Chelsea Ship's Clock, which unfortunately are insanely expensive for good examples.
kevin gilmore Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 I have one of these: I have a 1940's art deco version. Its in the shop at the moment for a new bellows and suspension spring. Putting it in the shop created an empty place that needed to be filled with another clock... estimate 14 week repair time.
Dusty Chalk Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 They're both gorgeous clocks...if I was into clocks. But the interminable ticking drives me bonkers. I don't mind one in the house, as long as it's not loud. Or are those the kind that have the fancy pendulum/gear mechanism, so they essentially don't tick? I think I'd like one of those. But what I really want is a tube clock.
kevin gilmore Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 The sea clock cannot be heard unless you are right on top of it. Even then you would have to listen for it. It beats once every 2 seconds. The atmos can't be heard at all. It beats once every 15 seconds (i think) If you want quiet, then get a congreve ball clock
Dusty Chalk Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 I might just have to do that... congreve ball clock - Google Product Search ...as soon as the economy recovers.
tyrion Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 As far as I can tell the Atmos is silent. I think mine is about 30+ years old.
