en480c4 Posted September 17, 2008 Report Posted September 17, 2008 No, I prefer bowls on the RS-1s that are listenable. The ones that aren't, which is a majority, sound like poo with flats or bowls. I haven't heard a setup with later RS-1s that didn't sound muddy and congested with flats or bright as hell with bowls.
en480c4 Posted September 17, 2008 Report Posted September 17, 2008 Well, they definitely are better with Cookie Crisp than flats, though I do admit that I prefer flats with Frosted Flakes.
n_maher Posted September 17, 2008 Report Posted September 17, 2008 Or riding in the cold... I think you meant: Balaclava (clothing - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) not Baklava - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia unless you're going to wear pastry on your head. Of course, you're a frenchy so maybe that's what you do to stay warm. You cheese eating surrender monkey.
JBLoudG20 Posted September 17, 2008 Author Report Posted September 17, 2008 oops yes. I keep leaving out a syllable. Hey now, you take that back or I'll be forced to surrender to you.
909 Posted September 17, 2008 Report Posted September 17, 2008 bought a professional mandoline slicer from costco, but the blade isn't even sharp enough to easily slice through eggplant skin. it's going back. otherwise it looks well constructed with quality parts. i've got a really old one from my Dad a few years ago, although, it's plastic the stainless blade is crazy sharp.
naamanf Posted September 17, 2008 Report Posted September 17, 2008 Crap load of supplements from Netrition.com and some lifting straps from Bodybuilding.com

n_maher Posted September 17, 2008 Report Posted September 17, 2008 Nothing too crazy, just sick of popping etys in and out, changing tips, changing filters, having the barrels rub on whatever hat/helmet I'm wearing.
n_maher Posted September 17, 2008 Report Posted September 17, 2008 Of course, just having read that Freq just closed their doors for the rest of the year leaves me with less options than I'd hoped for regarding customs.
Hopstretch Posted September 17, 2008 Report Posted September 17, 2008 Of course, just having read that Freq just closed their doors for the rest of the year leaves me with less options than I'd hoped for regarding customs. What's going on there?
JBLoudG20 Posted September 17, 2008 Author Report Posted September 17, 2008 Nothing too crazy, just sick of popping etys in and out, changing tips, changing filters, having the barrels rub on whatever hat/helmet I'm wearing. That's why I got ESW9's I don't use headphones in my helmet, so no worries there.
n_maher Posted September 17, 2008 Report Posted September 17, 2008 What's going on there? Sounds like a pretty big shakeup, despite the "it's all for the best" tone of the email they are sending to customers. The full email has been posted on head-fi, long story short they aren't accepting orders until next year. I'm not interested in waiting. That's why I got ESW9's I don't use headphones in my helmet, so no worries there. For me it's while I mow, while I ride, while I snow blow, etc, etc, so it's not hard to justify a little bit of money thrown that way. Basically, the only time I used closed headphone is in a pretty damn noisy environment and also when an over the ear design wouldn't work. IEMs or customs are the best choice.
Torpedo Posted September 17, 2008 Report Posted September 17, 2008 I've sinned oh father, and I deserve some punishment. I've got another pair of R10s These are of the bass-heavy variety (my other pair is bass-lite) and they show it at first listen. I suppose this closes my audio purchases for this year. Will it?
krrm Posted September 17, 2008 Report Posted September 17, 2008 Finally in stock: TOSHIBA HDD 120GB ATA-LIF 1.8IN 8MM 4200RPM 8 (MK1214GAH)

Awesome. When are you joining the electrostat side of the moon.
Fungi Posted September 17, 2008 Report Posted September 17, 2008 Accelero S1, portable hard drive case, Arctic Silver, PS2 controller - USB adapter
Torpedo Posted September 17, 2008 Report Posted September 17, 2008 Awesome. When are you joining the electrostat side of the moon. Maybe next year. I haven't enjoyed very much my previous electrostatic experiences, but I'm quite sure the 303 and 404 I've tried aren't even close to what a O2 is capable. I still have some reservations about the dynamic abilities of planars, especially considering their low sensitivities, but I'm still open minded

Torpedo Posted September 17, 2008 Report Posted September 17, 2008 I have only owned the SR-404...not even remotely close to the SR-007 MK1. They'd better are I imagine them as having the resolution, speed, frequency balance, pure tonality, and clarity I've heard from good planar speakers, with way better bottom end, but I still have to evaluate for myself their dynamic performance. Were they all that and had right dynamics, I still don't know if starting a whole electrostatics route would end up being more satisfying "musically" than some of my current setup configurations.
iceman94 Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Headamp Gilmore Lite. Yay headphones again
