Smeggy Posted March 10, 2008 Report Posted March 10, 2008 Woah smoking hot deal! From Japan? Yeah, believe it or not the original price was $200 but only for cash and local pickup. It was in a classifieds section of some Japanese site. I persuaded him to post them for an extra $100. Still cheap as shit by current prices so I'm happy.
deepak Posted March 10, 2008 Report Posted March 10, 2008 Going to be a good evening of prog rock... Hard to find Manticores of EL&P
Salt Peanuts Posted March 10, 2008 Report Posted March 10, 2008 Super Smash Bros. Brawl - as though I have time to play games.
swt61 Posted March 10, 2008 Report Posted March 10, 2008 It's just a small one, but long overdue. Let the turning begin! Well once it arrives anyway.
swt61 Posted March 10, 2008 Report Posted March 10, 2008 Reks your luck has got to be the worst I've seen in a while. Stay away from Vegas at all cost, or get a job there as a cooler.
swt61 Posted March 10, 2008 Report Posted March 10, 2008 Nice! Congrats Steve! So much fun!!! Thanks! I'm looking forward to it. It's been a while since I've turned some wood. I think I even have a customer already.
aardvark baguette Posted March 10, 2008 Report Posted March 10, 2008 with my luck i'd get the job as a cooler, and then my luck would change and everyone around me would win and i'd be fired. We should go to the track. I need to win some superfectas. I was one horse away from $10,000 once. $2 bet. My 4th pick came in 5th.
boomana Posted March 11, 2008 Report Posted March 11, 2008 Congrats, Steve. You must post pics of your work when done. Damn, Reks. Maybe the universe is trying to tell you something. I don't know what, but you sure do have the worst luck.
Salt Peanuts Posted March 11, 2008 Report Posted March 11, 2008 Steve, how big is that thing? It looks fairly small, and I wasn't aware that you could get a lathe so small. Man, I can't wait to have a house so I have a space to start learning woodworking. Jebus, Reks, I hope things turn around for you soon.

Man, I can't wait to have a house so I have a space to start learning woodworking. Jebus, Reks, I hope things turn around for you soon. It's a benchtop model, but it will do just about everything I'll need. It'll take 24" long stock and up to 9" in diameter. It's not a variable speed, but it should suffice for now.
boomana Posted March 11, 2008 Report Posted March 11, 2008 Nothing exciting, but it's the first thing I've bought other than food or gas in awhile. These are really nice, with longer fingers than my old pair (I have long fingers), and I needed the wrist straps. I wish they weren't leather, but the only non-leather pair in existence (one-sided mitten looking things) really don't work.
hYdrociTy Posted March 11, 2008 Report Posted March 11, 2008 Used, plus some dj mixer (but with phono inside so i can listen immediately to tide me over till i build a bugle) I can't wait. Probably gonna get a fluid damper for it and replace the stock cable and plug with some better ones.
ilikebananafudge Posted March 11, 2008 Report Posted March 11, 2008 I just bought a red sparkling drum set!!! Vintage 1966 Slingerland!! ;D I'm so excited I want to play it now but everyone in my house would be insanely mad, so I won't.

Smeggy Posted March 11, 2008 Report Posted March 11, 2008 New toys all round To Reks To everyone else Nice lathe Steve! How much was it?
jinp6301 Posted March 11, 2008 Report Posted March 11, 2008 everything has gone wrong this week. i finally bought a real copy of Scott Waker's the Drift, and i got a promo with all the tracks put together into one. i ordered RAM for a friend's laptop (birthday gift) and no only did it not arrive, the seller argued with me. i finally got a refund, but it was an ordeal. i got the Herman Miller Ergon today, but it has no adjustment. it was supposed to have height (what chair doesn't have height adjustment?), tilt and backrest angle adjustments. they are going to see about getting me a new one, tomorrow, but it'll be a hassle. i'm about to open my bluetooth Apple keyboard, i wonder what will be wrong with it. Get a Steelcase Leap!!! Its a friggin awesome chair, much better then any Harmon Miller I've sat in.
Smeggy Posted March 11, 2008 Report Posted March 11, 2008 Get a Steelcase Leap!!! Its a friggin awesome chair, much better then any Harmon Miller I've sat in. That's a hefty leap in price with the Steelcase. I didn't find the leap all that comfy myself. I preferred my Equa 2.
jinp6301 Posted March 11, 2008 Report Posted March 11, 2008 I had no idea about the price, but I really liked the steelcase over any other chair I've sat in
swt61 Posted March 11, 2008 Report Posted March 11, 2008 Nice lathe Steve! How much was it? Well that's the good part, it was on sale for $199.00 from $319.00, and shipping was only $12.00. "To everything turn, turn, turn. There is a season turn, turn, turn." Here's my dream lathe. One day! http://www.lagunatools.com/pinnacle.htm
