The IEMs I've heard sound more enjoyable to me than many of the full size headphones I've listened to. Obviously there are exceptions. Also, I only started using IEMs about six years ago, I did actually use full size ones prior to that. Besides, weren't you trying to talk me out of custom IEMs not long ago?

I do believe I've half jokingly suggested UE 10 Pros to you on several occations (you know, for the lulz). I can't think of any time I've said any bad words about the custom variety, appart from maybe saying you'd get better price/performance with full sized headphones. Non custom IEMs, yes, I think they're mostly shit.
