909 Posted August 17, 2007 Report Posted August 17, 2007 Superb Cert Diamonds They've got awesome hearts and arrows diamonds and their online documents and photos are the best I've seen. I bought from them. Vatche offers some very nice settings and they manufacturer the Tiffany Lucida setting, which is similar to the Vatche X-Prong. Pricescope is a really good diamond forum.
Augsburger Posted August 17, 2007 Report Posted August 17, 2007 And due to living in apartments for the next few years, I won't be able to enjoy a full out speaker setup, so I'll just save for now. I have a big rock to buy relatively soon. "Honey everyone knows a cubic zirconium looks just like a real diamond".......honest!
deepak Posted August 17, 2007 Author Report Posted August 17, 2007 C'mon, the L3000 are a WAY better investment than a diamond That's because diamonds shouldn't be an investment If you want to invest might as well just invest, good money can still be made. this is what jb mean: Grabbing some Be South 16 now
deepak Posted August 20, 2007 Author Report Posted August 20, 2007 Are there any other L3000 + Zana Deux owners? mulveling sent me a PM, so looking forward to his impressions. Anyone else?
JBLoudG20 Posted August 20, 2007 Report Posted August 20, 2007 as I am well aware. I havemy eyes on a few, but who knows since a speaker upgrade is about 5 years out.
humanflyz Posted August 20, 2007 Report Posted August 20, 2007 Day 4 since I'm left without my L3000s, am beginning to see things that aren't there...
909 Posted August 20, 2007 Report Posted August 20, 2007 Are there any other L3000 + Zana Deux owners? mulveling sent me a PM, so looking forward to his impressions. Anyone else? I don't own the ZD, but I've heard that combo on a few of occasions. I've heard that Craig is working on a new design that's not only a headphone amp, but also drives speakers, which he has been working on as well and they are based on the Moth Cicada design.
darkless Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 you can get pretty damn good speakers for that money, as i'm finding out. Indeed, I've recently purchased a pair of Triangle Stratos Luna 260 speakers (93 dB/W/m). At $2400 they were a bargain. They're the most detailed dynamic speakers I've ever heard with a very flat bass response but also with a treble spike from 14-20 kHz. I will try to drive them directly from my SP amp when I receive it. At my low listening levels, it will have plenty of power (72 dB(A) at listening position is borderline uncomfortable to me).

postjack Posted September 1, 2007 Report Posted September 1, 2007 http://www.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?t=258155 For sale on HF, $2448.
Iron_Dreamer Posted September 1, 2007 Report Posted September 1, 2007 Woohoo for headphones as an investment! Not that I'd ever want to sell them, at least based on how I feel when listening to them (like now).
mulveling Posted September 1, 2007 Report Posted September 1, 2007 Woohoo for headphones as an investment! Not that I'd ever want to sell them, at least based on how I feel when listening to them (like now). Yeah, same here. I have a gut feeling that the L3000 must be peaking in value right around now. No way I'm selling mine, though But really, is there anything better than enjoying something so much, that doesn't go down in value?
deepak Posted September 1, 2007 Author Report Posted September 1, 2007 That headband on that pair is bent out pretty far? Mine rest in the closed position when they're off my head, and that's what every other pair I've seen looked like as well.
Iron_Dreamer Posted September 1, 2007 Report Posted September 1, 2007 As is mine. That is pretty odd that they would be so far apart.
mulveling Posted September 1, 2007 Report Posted September 1, 2007 Hmm, good point. That ain't natural.
asebastian0 Posted September 1, 2007 Report Posted September 1, 2007 Hehehe... Yes they fell off my head when I first got them.... fortunately the band is malleable/semi-adjustable and I got them back to what I assume is 'regular'
909 Posted September 1, 2007 Report Posted September 1, 2007 that is some serious divide between those earpads--abnormal \
bhd812 Posted September 1, 2007 Report Posted September 1, 2007 the leather is so amazing on those.. fucking AT knows how to do a nice set of cans forsure!
humanflyz Posted September 1, 2007 Report Posted September 1, 2007 Just got them back from Alex this morning: http://apuresound.com/images/cables/hl3000.html Mine is the one on the left. Goddamn I've missed these headphones, but can't listen for long because of the Cal vs. Tenessee game. Go Bears!
909 Posted September 1, 2007 Report Posted September 1, 2007 congrats! and the cable and workmanship look superb.
humanflyz Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 The most noticeable differences between the stock cable and Alex's cable lie in bass impact and treble sparkle. Alex's cable makes the L3000s hit even harder, such that kick drums have, well, more kick. The treble seem to have gained a small bit of sparkle, so it's a little bit more open sounding. The L3000s aren't claustrophobic to begin with, but any more treble clarity is welcomed. By the way these opinions are formed while listening to them balanced; I haven't done a balanced-vs-single-ended comparison using Alex's adaptor yet.
fierce_freak Posted September 7, 2007 Report Posted September 7, 2007 i inquired about them, but i probably can't afford it...my thin skin has me looking at other headphones now that i've heard my k1k isn't good for metal
