blessingx Posted May 21, 2019 Report Posted May 21, 2019 Okay, the same weekend GoT finishes, the second and last season of Fleabag hits Amazon Prime (it’s already aired in Britain). Can we now call it the best thing on TV? Know there are other fans here, including Stretch, and suspect there would be many more given the chance. Quote
EdipisReks1 Posted May 21, 2019 Report Posted May 21, 2019 I keep meaning to watch it (I've been watching Maniac on Netflix). Quote
Torpedo Posted May 21, 2019 Report Posted May 21, 2019 I liked the first season quite a bit, I'll watch this 2nd one at some point. Quote
jpelg Posted May 22, 2019 Report Posted May 22, 2019 Finished series 1 this week, actually. Looking forward to series 2. Quote
Voltron Posted May 24, 2019 Report Posted May 24, 2019 Just started watching season one yesterday and love it. Found out today that Fleabag Phoebe also created and wrote Killing Eve, so I am even more impressed. Quote

Found out today that Fleabag Phoebe also created and wrote Killing Eve, so I am even more impressed. I think she worked on the second season of Fleabag and the first of Killing Eve at the same time. I thought I was busy. Like many shows, Fleabag is getting a cultural translation. Kind of. A French faithful adaptation. I know I'm being naive, and this is likely just about native positioning and cash, but have you heard of stranger, lighter, justification for adapting? Quote Mouche, which broadcasts on 3 June, has been described as a faithful adaptation of Waller-Bridge’s original – recapturing the series almost scene for scene. The writer and director, Jeanne Herry, told France Inter radio this week: “The English version is excellent, so I don’t see why you’d change it.” “We found it worked with Paris decor and costumes. It’s a series that is not so much about England or English culture but about the times we’re living in. Those times we’ve living in have a similar impact across Europe and the western world and similar themes – personal connection, the difficulties of talking – at the heart of families. It’s all so universal that the connection worked.” It's even the same song! Quote
EdipisReks1 Posted May 27, 2019 Report Posted May 27, 2019 Watching episode 3. This is excellent. Quote
blessingx Posted May 28, 2019 Author Report Posted May 28, 2019 Strangely Daphne, which just picked up a couple awards at Cannes, is being referred to as “Fleabag without all the jokes.” Not exactly sure what that is, but... 1 Quote
jpelg Posted June 1, 2019 Report Posted June 1, 2019 Just finished series 2. Building upon series 1 with more emotional rawness. PW-B's choices are brilliant, both in front of the camera & behind. Quote
cutestory Posted June 5, 2019 Report Posted June 5, 2019 We're just 5 episodes into the first season, and I am in awe of this show. Quote
blessingx Posted June 6, 2019 Author Report Posted June 6, 2019 I can't remember missing TV characters so much at the end of a run in probably a decade, and likely never in a mere twelve episodes. That Fleabag-Claire relationship was magic. Quote
blessingx Posted June 7, 2019 Author Report Posted June 7, 2019 Now it seems like I’m obsessing, but Phoebe Waller-Bridge was just brought in to spice up the next Bond film script. “There’s been a lot of talk about whether or not [the Bond franchise] is relevant now because of who he is and the way he treats women,” she says. “I think that’s bollocks. I think he’s absolutely relevant now. It has just got to grow. It has just got to evolve, and the important thing is that the film treats the women properly. He doesn’t have to. He needs to be true to this character.” 1 Quote
blessingx Posted October 10, 2019 Author Report Posted October 10, 2019 Keeping my Phoebe Waller-Bridge obsession going, if anyone wants to see an encore simulcast (in a movie theater near you) of the one-woman show that started Fleabag ... http://ntlive.nationaltheatre.org.uk/productions/ntlout37-fleabag 2 Quote
