These interest me only because it seems to be a different presentation, more speaker-like.

Of course I would need a nice speaker amp design to build for these, Kevin ?.

uberamp2  in single ended form. then you don't need the resistor box.

I do wonder how many of these would be plugged into normal amps and short them out if they hadn't reversed the plugs...

Where are you seeing the reversed plugs at? Or is this because of the 0.2ohm impedance (without the box)?

I think spritzer is referring to the fact that the XLR connector is female to male to avoid people plugging it into normal amplifiers, in which case they would short.
