grawk
It happened finally. Something killed the power supply on my apogee ensemble. No scorch marks visible, no fuse i can find, it just doesn't power up anymore. I've emailed apogee, but they stopped supporting these a few years ago. I just don't have thunderbolt on my mac pro, and really don't want to go through all that. So I'm torn between replacing it with another one, finding someone to repair it, or getting a metric halo. kevin gilmore
has to be a $25 switcher in there. those things die all the time. Really easy to replace. pics and we should be able to find a replacement. there actually is a fuse on the power supply, looks like a resistor, and if its blown, likely the rest of it is toast, but I have been known to fix them if necessary. kevin gilmore
the T2A round black thing is the fuse, you can check continuity. Looking for exact replacement now 24 volts 1.67 amps mounting holes 3.7 x 1.7 inches made in 2005, so its definitely time to replace this may or may not fit the mounting holes https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Delta-Electronics/MDS-065APS24-BA/?qs=%2fha2pyFaduirkRCGmuVLPGG%2b%2b1Owb2DkcY1eufxPxz01f8scL9gSWw%3d%3d this seems the exact item but its end of life, so maybe buy 2 https://www.mouser.com/productdetail/murata-power-solutions/mvad040-24?qs=sGAEpiMZZMsPs3th5F8koHWdVLP2qW6GCxvvDr00QbM%3D Edited January 7, 2018 by kevin gilmore

Gilmam
Hello! Any help where i can find a power supply? mine suddenly stopped turning on! thanks alot, Gilbert
n_maher
@Gilmam - post the sticker from the power supply? I'm not sure if we're talking "brick" here or more complex. I could read above but I'm tired. Also, just because the unit isn't powering up doesn't mean the PS is dead. Do you have a multimeter? grawk
24 volts 1.67 amps mounting holes 3.7 x 1.7 inches, it's a board. I forget what the connectors are. edit: found em, more expensive now, but not insane: http://www.nextwarehouse.com/item/?1689025_g10e&gclid=CjwKCAiAs92MBhAXEiwAXTi25wYeg3-De0RzhTG8f8pRAQGB18dchAF-y13a6_JsWNaoAy6TitamqxoCUJMQAvD_BwE

Anyone any idea where to find a Power supply that would work? Kevin you still about? I'm ok with soldering & replacing the odd cap but this has burnt marks all over it so not sure if it's path I should go down etc but working out what supply I might need apart from the voltage I'm not sure what would be best. The second link at Mouser still works but it's 65w I presume as long as the pins are ok & it's 24v it should be good? Appreciate any advice.. kevin gilmore
buy whatever you can find that is the right voltage and meets minimum current requirements. bonus if it fits the original holes. otherwise remove old studs, drill new holes etc..
