nopants Posted October 5, 2017 Report Posted October 5, 2017 Am I late to the party? https://www.massdrop.com/buy/headamp-gilmore-lite-mk2-headphone-amp It's pretty cute, I regret not grabbing a mk1 unit over all these years. I like the knob! Quote
JimL Posted October 6, 2017 Report Posted October 6, 2017 I got a notice that it is up on Massdrop. The Massdrop pictures seem to show it with a wall wart type supply. I've already got a Mk I so I didn't pay a lot of attention to it. Quote
justin Posted October 6, 2017 Report Posted October 6, 2017 it's basically the same power supply as the original Gilmore Lite, but it no longer blocks 3 outlets on a power strip as it has a short AC cord on it, and the European voltage you supply your own power cord for it Quote
nopants Posted October 6, 2017 Author Report Posted October 6, 2017 are the rubber feet simply adhered on the bottom? id rather ask that here than attract attention on the massdrop thread Quote
Mr.Sneis Posted October 8, 2017 Report Posted October 8, 2017 Justin, any chance of interior shots? Quote
justin Posted October 8, 2017 Report Posted October 8, 2017 Yes, will be coming. It's a super high quality board so will definitely be showing that off. The unit that went to Massdrop had a prototype inside 1 Quote
MASantos Posted October 9, 2017 Report Posted October 9, 2017 Hello Justin, will there be a matching upgraded power supply as in the original? Quote
Bjorn Posted December 12, 2017 Report Posted December 12, 2017 This guy and the Dynalo mk2 are basically the same amplifier design, correcto? Quote
purk Posted December 12, 2017 Report Posted December 12, 2017 In single-end with lesser PSU, so a yes. Quote
Bjorn Posted December 13, 2017 Report Posted December 13, 2017 Right, my bad. The mk2 is the Pure Bipolar... Just “Dynalo” is the single ended version with simplified PSU if I’m not mistaken. That’s the one I was referring to. Quote
purk Posted December 13, 2017 Report Posted December 13, 2017 The Lite mk2 should sound like the GSX MK2 in single end but with less refinement due to the lesser power supply. With a dedicated DPS, the Gilmore Lite MK2 should sound identical to the GS-X MK2 in single end operation. 2 Quote
skullguise Posted December 23, 2017 Report Posted December 23, 2017 That is indeed quite lovely! And, while I would not buy the Fostex phones pictured, I do also love the color of those, too. Quote
morphsci Posted December 24, 2017 Report Posted December 24, 2017 That is a beauty. So, you can do balanced using a 4pin XLR or using a dual TRS cable? Quote
Voltron Posted December 24, 2017 Report Posted December 24, 2017 I'm not sure about dual TRS but those look like combo plugs that also take dual 3-pin XLRs. Smack me if that was obvious to you, Jim. Quote
n_maher Posted December 24, 2017 Report Posted December 24, 2017 I think you're both basically right. I don't think dual TRS is the goal and Al is correct, those are Neutrik combo jacks that allow for both TRS plugs and 3-pin XLRs. The front panel says L/SE and R/SE below those two jacks. And the 4-pin XLR jack is labeled balanced. Quote
swt61 Posted December 24, 2017 Report Posted December 24, 2017 Nice Justin! If you need a schill... Quote
morphsci Posted December 24, 2017 Report Posted December 24, 2017 Yeah I assumed you could do balanced using dual 3pin xlr. I should have said it explicitly. I was just asking about dual TRS out of curiosity. Anyway, it is Purdy. Quote

I think it's just two SE TRS stereo outputs for "normal" headphones, although I ignore if there's some way to configure them to become an additional way to output balanced signal on two TRS jacks, one per channel.
