MexicanDragon Posted June 21, 2017 Report Posted June 21, 2017 So I've been going out and playing darts quite a bit lately, and I'm sick and tired of getting beaten by my fairer-sexed companions. I'm also sick of shitty house darts, and shitty boards. Since this is HC, and I have the space, I'm contemplating getting a setup for the house to practice, and have some darts to keep with me when I go out so we don't have to play with nylon nonsense. I think I've narrowed my board choices down to either the Winmau Blade 5 (60$) or Blade 5 Dual Core (better, and 85-90$.) The dart board surround, and the darts themselves, however, I'm not sure on. Anyone here throw? Have a recommendation for some mid-level darts I should consider (I'll save the Hammerheads for the Christmas wish list)? What about a surround? I've ruled out the cabinet option, as it seems lacking, but definitely want to protect the walls. **BRENT** 1
Voltron Posted June 21, 2017 Report Posted June 21, 2017 I got the Winmau dual core. It suffered from a little rain but was not ruined and seems to be recovering well. No recommended darts and I don't have a surround on the tree 1
Aura Posted June 21, 2017 Report Posted June 21, 2017 Our back patio fence is a giant piece of wooden shit. Adding a dartboard to it (until we replace the damn thing) isn't a half-bad idea... I wouldn't care about putting holes in it one bit. 2
Dreadhead Posted June 21, 2017 Report Posted June 21, 2017 Our new dart board came with a lake house attached.... It may need the HC treatment. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk 4

MexicanDragon Posted June 21, 2017 Author Report Posted June 21, 2017 And the numbering on the Unicorn is the best in the game, IMO, but the Blade 5 is everything else I want.Sent from my ONEPLUS A3000 using Tapatalk

jp11801 Posted June 22, 2017 Report Posted June 22, 2017 darts are really a personal feel type of thing, I threw for years in a bar league in NYC and went through many types of darts. I loved this style for a while https://www.amazon.com/Bottelsen-Hammer-Tungsten-Gorilla-Diameter/dp/B005I0I8WY/ref=pd_sbs_200_7?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B005I0I8WY&pd_rd_r=2GM42R97E14SC0HCHR2A&pd_rd_w=facCR&pd_rd_wg=Gaiyh&refRID=2GM42R97E14SC0HCHR2A In the end it is all about mental focus and flawless technique. Some nights the target looks so big that I crushed games 501 double in double out and some nights I played like Ray Charles. 2
MexicanDragon Posted June 22, 2017 Author Report Posted June 22, 2017 I'm with you on the feel thing. Going to the dart shop tomorrow before I go throw with a chick who beat me by one bull last time, though I won in the most clutch game we've played to date.http://tadarts.com/contents/en-us/d202_Steel_Tip_Darts.htmlI'm thinking the 40-50$ range is solid for now. That would get me into 80-85% tungsten darts and let me get Some throwing down and then down the road, when I know my preference, go Bottelsen.I can't remember which weight I used to throw, but think it was 24ish.If you know of anything from my local shop that jumps out, LMK.**BRENT**Sent from my ONEPLUS A3000 using Tapatalk 1

Grahame Posted June 22, 2017 Report Posted June 22, 2017 ^This?https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nine-dart_finishOr has anyone achieved said?
MexicanDragon Posted June 23, 2017 Author Report Posted June 23, 2017 SMH.Was definitely more consistent with these.Had to close 15 and BullTried about 12 darts in 4-5 different weights before I found something. There was a set I liked more but not for 25% more.Heh, I actually described what I wanted after throwing different things."So, we have exactly what you're describing, but it's 135$."270% of max budget? Sounds about right.**BRENT** 1
Dreadhead Posted June 23, 2017 Report Posted June 23, 2017 Please tell me brand and model so I may purchase the ones beyond your reach. This is my duty as your friend. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk 2
MexicanDragon Posted June 23, 2017 Author Report Posted June 23, 2017 http://www.bottelsendartsinternational.com/shark-skins-gt-hammer-head-249gts-24-gram/ or for slightly heavier http://www.bottelsendartsinternational.com/shark-skins-gt-hammer-head-265gts-26-gram/ This is my other want; same shape but with a different coating. A matte black instead of the sandpaper-esque ones above. http://www.bottelsendartsinternational.com/gt-hammer-head-265gtbk-26-gram/ Enjoy your shopping, dick. **BRENT** 1
Torpedo Posted June 23, 2017 Report Posted June 23, 2017 I liked it better when they made them from real feathers. I gave a set of pretty heavy ones with feather tails to my father for one of his birthdays, around 38. I don't like darts with plastic tip and those horrible pinhole dartboards. The Hammer Head look good. 1
