Oh hey, remember this thread?

This isn't a sound system.  Those are self powered speakers sitting on either side of stack of Mac gear that is for sale.  With that said it's a nice assortment of kit there.

Spoiler

Also Wu Tang Clan Ain't Nuttin' Fa F' Wit.

I bought Al's niece, Dorothy a pair of those Edifiers. For the price, I find them pretty amazing. Along with a U-turn Audio turntable (with built in phono amp) and a cheap Blu-ray player for CD and video playback, and she has a system that's easy to use and with built in Bluetooth, her phone is her usual source.

Tannoy GRF - Gold 15s
McIntosh MX110-Z
Marantz 8B
McIntosh MI-75 Monoblocks
Not pictured: Marantz Model 18 and Thorens TD-121

It took a long time but after having listened to and tried 8 different Tannoy drivers and speakers combination, I settled on the Tannoy Gold 15 GRF's from the 60's - These backloaded horn speakers render bass quite differently compared to the ported bass reflex speakers. That bass quality with the 15" Gold drivers deliver the best overall sound (to my ears). After having tried several different 60's and 70's silverface receivers, I settled on McIntosh MX110-Z for the tube setup and Marantz Model 18 receiver for solid state. I'm still trying to decide between the McIntosh MI-75s and the Marantz 8B. They both have their strengths.

That is a deep-pocket system for sure!

I don't know? They'd have to be extremely deep pockets to fit all that gear. Doesn't look very portable to me.

does look like the same amp.  however the quality of the western electric tubes with all that fluorescence on the glass is definitely worrying me, clearly they are not pumping down the tubes enough. or not enough getter.
