skullguise Posted April 10, 2020 Report Posted April 10, 2020 (edited) A whole bunch of years ago, a dealer in NH I frequented had a Manufacturer night with Michael Green of Roomtunes. They had Rowland mono amps and a pair of Aerial Acoustics speakers. I used to listen to them, and think that either the amps or speakers or both were not worth the price. They sounded a bit dull and lifeless. During that night, Michael did his thing, with his things....he said at one point he was about 50% done, but they started having folks come in and listen Night...and....fucking....day. Dynamics, space, precise imaging, and more all of a sudden was THERE. As nice as that room was, his "50%" showed off what the system could do. And from that day forward, I never doubted Rowland or Aerial.... Edited April 12, 2020 by skullguise
Knuckledragger Posted April 11, 2020 Report Posted April 11, 2020 I'm a bit confused. Michael did ...room treatment with dampening materials, or he modded the amp/speakers? Sounds fascinating either way.
Pars Posted April 12, 2020 Report Posted April 12, 2020 I took it as room treatment, as that is what Michael does (did?).
skullguise Posted April 12, 2020 Report Posted April 12, 2020 Yup, Chris is correct. Roomtunes room treatment......
robm321 Posted April 12, 2020 Report Posted April 12, 2020 I remember Roomtunes. Always heard good things but never tried it myself.

Knuckledragger Posted April 15, 2020 Report Posted April 15, 2020 Oh, man. I have some happy early 90s memories of Adcom kit. 2
skullguise Posted April 15, 2020 Report Posted April 15, 2020 (edited) The "gold badge" Adcom stuff was their best. My first ever separate power amp was a (close to) cube-shaped Adcom GFA-1A. Punchy little thing, good power and decent (based on memory) sound..... Edited April 15, 2020 by skullguise 1
morphsci Posted April 15, 2020 Report Posted April 15, 2020 Nice! I loved my Adcom 565s. They were beasts.
Knuckledragger Posted April 16, 2020 Report Posted April 16, 2020 I think this guy likes vintage kit. 1

Craig Sawyers Posted May 5, 2020 Report Posted May 5, 2020 How about a battery supply from Living Voice (the same outfit that make the Vox Olympian speaker)? https://www.livingvoice.co.uk/lv-battery-power-supply.html I get the impression that is not a cheap supply... 1
Dusty Chalk Posted May 5, 2020 Report Posted May 5, 2020 I’ve always wanted something like that. Pure DC power.
