naamanf Posted January 23, 2021 Report Posted January 23, 2021 Built a stick crusher holder with my ping pong table. 5 1
swt61 Posted January 23, 2021 Report Posted January 23, 2021 (edited) The Red smasher is worth waiting for. Edited January 23, 2021 by swt61
VPI Posted January 23, 2021 Report Posted January 23, 2021 Was able to find the Bosch in stock so to begin with, it will be mounted in the Jessem Table. 3

That’s what I did. They are not that expensive and can be used as a kayak anchor when the Red smasher becomes available. Edited January 23, 2021 by naamanf
n_maher Posted January 23, 2021 Report Posted January 23, 2021 I will eventually use this to smash sticks, in the woods. Project Carbon Hardtail officially kicking off. Now to find a deal on a fork. 5
swt61 Posted January 23, 2021 Report Posted January 23, 2021 I think you should mount a ski on front.

VPI Posted January 24, 2021 Report Posted January 24, 2021 Your fault Nate, you bought studded tires. I bought a set of studded fat tires for $600 and it never snowed again the whole winter. 1

VPI Posted January 24, 2021 Report Posted January 24, 2021 Still waiting on the Mast r Fence III but everything else is constructed and leveled. Really impressed with the build quality of how everything comes together. 7
VPI Posted January 25, 2021 Report Posted January 25, 2021 Contemplating picking up the 1250 CFM Dust Right system at Rockler tomorrow for connection to the Planer, Saw and Router Table. Anybody have any experience or recommend something else?

Anybody have any experience or recommend something else? If you have the space and don’t mind spending more, a vortex system would be the way to go. The Dust Right will probably work fine though, just get the canister option. Can always sell it to Brent when you step up to a CNC. Edited January 25, 2021 by naamanf
VPI Posted January 25, 2021 Report Posted January 25, 2021 I have close to zero room for this stuff. It seems to be passable at least and for the minimal amount of work I could probably just use the Festool, but it still misses quite a bit with the Mitre saw. Right now I have a large shop vac sitting under the router table that I was contemplating trying.

They like throwing shit everywhere. Check out https://www.oneida-air.com for some smaller vortex systems.
VPI Posted January 27, 2021 Report Posted January 27, 2021 Got it almost built and right at the end I realized the fucking Canadians forgot two pieces that are supposed to be mounted to the fence to where the clamps are supposed to mount so now back to waiting. 1 2
swt61 Posted January 28, 2021 Report Posted January 28, 2021 The best way I know how to contain the debris of a miter saw...
VPI Posted January 28, 2021 Report Posted January 28, 2021 (edited) I find that the Festool CT26 hooked up to the Bosch does really well for dust management. Not perfect but better than I expected with the large gap between blade and dust extraction on the Bosch. The router should be minimal CFM requirement and the Planer is not going to be great with anything I have room for in the garage. Need to break down the twin feather boards so I have infeed and outfeed feathers and need to coerce the bars into the back that allow you to use it as a jointer of sorts but I have done as much as I can without all the parts. Going to thrown on the Dust Bucket tomorrow and wait for shit to come from Canada. Edited January 28, 2021 by VPI
VPI Posted January 28, 2021 Report Posted January 28, 2021 Fucking Jessem's global customer service is a woman named Patty that is either on the phone or out of the office every time you call. I should have bought a Rockler setup.
Voltron Posted January 28, 2021 Report Posted January 28, 2021 You can still use that router and fence without clamps and feather boards, etc. Just sayin' 1
VPI Posted January 28, 2021 Report Posted January 28, 2021 (edited) The fence cannot be locked down without these. It is not the clamp but the twist lock handles that lock the fence in place. I could use the router free handed I guess. Spoke to Patty, parts are coming, I assume on the back of a Caribou, to finish it out. Edited January 28, 2021 by VPI 3
swt61 Posted January 28, 2021 Report Posted January 28, 2021 I use a router table that way at least 50% of the time.
Voltron Posted January 28, 2021 Report Posted January 28, 2021 Assuming the router but is meant to be used that way and has a collar like the round-over bit in Jeff's pics. 🙂
naamanf Posted January 29, 2021 Report Posted January 29, 2021 First commissioned work. Vet hospital owner I happen to know needed a emergency gift for a client. Little boring but usable. Playing around with inlays. For a whiskey group. 9

Also, you have a guide pin on the router plate. That helps to stabilize the work piece. Not boring at all Naaman. Nice!
