I’ve tested sot 23 even a 500V/0.5W piece. Three times it started OK, but after some time (several power ON/OFF and hours) without a warning one of Q30/31 has popped and corresponding resistor totally destroyed. Furthermore two ksc2690 (k216 eq.), one fjpf2145 (c3675) blown and damages to PSU. If you don’t know what you are doing (I obviously haven’t a clue) don’t change Q30/31. Let them be 2sc3675 (or fjpf2145 - I used it for more then six years now). 1
Kerry Posted June 10, 2020 Report Posted June 10, 2020 So I built I fire today... This will eventually be a golden reference bias supply / doubler (because over-kill has no limits). My probe apparently touched something it shouldn’t have. Quite the spectacular fireworks. My heart is still racing 6 2 4
guzziguy Posted June 10, 2020 Report Posted June 10, 2020 Poubelle! 😁 One of the first words I learned when I worked in France. Thanks for the pic. Words couldn't have done it justice. 1
JoaMat Posted June 11, 2020 Report Posted June 11, 2020 Attacking crowded smd boards with test probes are indeed risky business. My heart rate increases when I just think of it and sometimes my hands shake so it’s not possible… 1
Kerry Posted June 11, 2020 Report Posted June 11, 2020 (edited) Remarkably, most of the components survived. The current regulator, U1, was vaporized along with the set resistors. The main fire was from the bottom through hole resistor. Next step, Poubelle! After that, I’m putting in a more robust current regulator. Edited June 11, 2020 by Kerry 2

Kerry Posted June 12, 2020 Report Posted June 12, 2020 (edited) I was hoping for something quite the opposite, but one never knows Edited June 12, 2020 by Kerry 1
Emooze Posted June 16, 2020 Report Posted June 16, 2020 Made some simple clamps for the Shapeoko out of some scrap red oak. Don't have a finished picture because I don't have a flush-trim router bit to cut off the tabs. Still learning feeds and speeds so the finish is also questionable. 11
n_maher Posted June 18, 2020 Report Posted June 18, 2020 You inspired me to get off my ass and work on my first real mod for the Traeger, a magnetic cutting board to mount to the top of the pellet hopper. I used the Shapeoko to machine a pocket into the back side of the cutting board as well as to make the recesses for the magnets. Then used the laser engraver to etch Traeger's logo into the top. I'll probably make a fancier version at some point but this will do for now. 18 1
HemiSam Posted June 18, 2020 Report Posted June 18, 2020 slow n low... Traeger's are a very convenient way to enjoy BBQ. Nicely done! HS 1
Voltron Posted June 18, 2020 Report Posted June 18, 2020 (edited) Delivered this cutting board to my sister who is a lifelong quilter. *snip* Edited June 18, 2020 by Voltron 18
Voltron Posted June 18, 2020 Report Posted June 18, 2020 Love the Traeger cutting board Nate! The magnets are a genius touch. 1
shellylh Posted June 18, 2020 Report Posted June 18, 2020 Love the cutting boards Al and Nate! Nate: I got this front folding shelf for my Traeger and love it. Don’t know why it doesn’t come with the grill. https://www.bbqguys.com/traeger/folding-front-shelf-for-pro-series-34-pellet-grills

If I get the manufacturing time down I'll make you a cutting board for your Traeger. Al, That cutting board is gorgeous, well done! 1
shellylh Posted June 18, 2020 Report Posted June 18, 2020 That would be awesome (but of course not necessary)! 1
