Spritzer stars in Innerfidelity Big Sound 2015 video - (but not in person!)

I really don't think we're done discussing the sheer stupidity that new tubes somehow "break" the amp.  That is up there on the stupid scale with burn in and the cable mania.  Based on actual measurements the new small signal tubes are often an order of magnitude better than the true NOS stuff.  Let's not get into the ebay garbage either where you have no way to know in what state the tubes truly are.

With power tubes things are not as clear as they are naturally built down to a price compared to something built in the 50's.  Still the good new stuff isn't bad by any means.

Many/most of us do, sorry; and there's parts of it you're not getting.  A lot of it has to do with the fact that someone relatively new coming in, educated or not (and you do seem to have good experience with the Teton), and being as figuratively loud as you have been in this thread, is not looked upon so kindly here.  Then the reaction to the reaction escalates it as well.

I think you'll get on fine overall, I'd just recommend chilling a bit and enjoying the ride.  None of us are perfect, but we're perfectly fine here.

Nope sorry as of July 4th, in the he1k thread, the best I could get out of several senior members was that this was a booze and guns forums. For sure not in my welcome message. July 4th was also the last time I posted so I think it is not all that out of order to ask the moderators to just ignore me if they do not like what I type. Between dusty chalk and grawk I have ignored what they have to say 60,000+ times. I don't think I'm asking allot for them to ignore me once in a blue moon.

What?  No, never.  What if you started posting child porn?  Or -- as is currently the case -- are just a passive-aggressive douchebag?  You seem to have entitlement problems.  Go start your own forum, you can do whatever you want there.  You are not entitled to SHIT anywhere else.

Never posted any child porn. Never said I was entitled to anything. Just can not figure out why 2 dudes who have over 60,000 posts between them want to get all emotional about a brief post, when I barely post.

We're not emotional, we're suggesting you might find a better place that might meet your expectations better.  No one here gives a shit what you think, so expecting that we do is going to cause tension for you.

Are you kidding me? You guys curse at me in capital letters. Make fun of my handle. Say I'm a douche then insinuate that I would do the worst thing ever and post child porn on here. All over some tubes. Yeah you guys are a hot mess emotionally.

Take it to PM, jib/Billy/Aaron/whatever your name is.  You're threadcrapping.

Threadcrapping -- making the thread about you, rather than the original subject matter == a form of entitlement.  Any form of expecting special treatment, stated or otherwise == entitlement.  Since you obviously don't know what that means.

Or piss off.  Don't really care which.

Good day, sir.

To get back to the original topic, I've had an SR007 Mk I for a while, and recently I bought a new pair of Mk IIs for comparison, although I didn't listen to it until about a week and a half ago.  I just listened for a couple minutes just to make sure it was working properly and then did the spritzer port mod.

Prior to that, a couple of weekends ago I brought my SRX Plus and Mk I headphones to the first Albuquerque Head-Fi meet.  I'm happy to say it impressed a number of people, including a couple of very experienced audiophiles.  So much so, that one of them immediately went out and got a Stax Lambda Pro and T1 amp and sold his Sennheiser 800s.

Last weekend I got together with a few of them, bringing my amp, Mk I and modded Mk II phones.  The consensus of opinion was that the Mk I was a bit on the soft side - as one listener put it, "It's what I'd choose if I wanted to sit back with a glass of wine to listen for pleasure" - and the Mk II was more tonally neutral.  So, using completely different amp and source, I would say that we came to the same conclusions as spritzer, Bob Katz and Tyll.

Nope.  I don't think Bob Katz did either.  It's a little unclear to me if spritzer has the Mk I pads with Mk II springs on his Mk II or whether he has the stock pads and springs.

The differens might be due to the pads/spring rather than the driver then ...

The difference in pads is tiny assuming they are of equal quality i.e. age.

My Mk2's just have the ports plugged, nothing else.  I messed with the arcs a bit to get the fit just right but it was a minor adjustment.

and how would that be the case comparing a mki to a new mkii?
