Dreadhead Posted March 12, 2016 Report Posted March 12, 2016 FUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCK GOT IT HOME AND THE COOLANT IS SPRAYED ALL OVER THE FUCKING ENGINE BAY. Dealership sending a tow truck. Hopefully fixed tomorrow
GrindingThud Posted March 12, 2016 Report Posted March 12, 2016 Fixed a dead actuator in my 2011 Taurus today: 1

VPI Posted March 12, 2016 Author Report Posted March 12, 2016 I would make them give me a different one. 2
Dreadhead Posted March 12, 2016 Report Posted March 12, 2016 We will see what they say tomorrow. Fuck
Grahame Posted March 12, 2016 Report Posted March 12, 2016 Lemon law? So much for pre-delivery inspections, eh?
Dreadhead Posted March 12, 2016 Report Posted March 12, 2016 I am sure I can get my money back at this point. I am open to them fixing it. Things happen but if they start dicking me around I will get upset. No sign of that yet. 1
n_maher Posted March 12, 2016 Report Posted March 12, 2016 My bet is you'll be fine. Probably something as stupid as a single hose clamp, fitting or something along those lines. Looks great, that's for damn sure. 2
HemiSam Posted March 12, 2016 Report Posted March 12, 2016 Just be sure that coolant that hit the hot head, etc... is removed...it can stain aluminum and some other bits. They ought to do something nice for you like offer up a few detailing jobs...don't let them off too cheap if you keep it. HS 1

They have to be given the opportunity to correct the defect (and fail). Three times in Virginia. (Every place at least once, I think.) Oh hey, look, DMV.org gives you a directory into lemon law lawyers: link. (DMV.org is not affiliated with the Virginia government.)
Fitz Posted March 12, 2016 Report Posted March 12, 2016 I don't look forward to the day my car finally gives up the ghost and I need to get something newer. Having an old beater from the 80s that never quits and you know inside and out and can easily work on in the driveway is just so nice.
Dreadhead Posted March 12, 2016 Report Posted March 12, 2016 Yeah I was thinking a full detail in the bay is definitely required. As far as a sweetener I was going to ask for some money off the install of the Ford short throw shifter kit.
Torpedo Posted March 12, 2016 Report Posted March 12, 2016 (edited) Sorry for the bad luck, Chris. I wish they reimburse you or give you a new different one. My mother in law and brother in law have diesel Focus, they aren't particularly happy with them, the cars have been needing little fixes quite frequently. Only my MIL's had some serious issue with the clutch and gearshift IICR, fortunately while still covered by warranty. I'm not really a fan of Ford cars, but they're not probably the same in Europe as in the US. Edited March 12, 2016 by Torpedo 1
Dreadhead Posted March 12, 2016 Report Posted March 12, 2016 This is a US built one but I expect it to be around the same as elsewhere. Hopefully I am OK after this issue. Maybe I should have gone WRX. 1
swt61 Posted March 12, 2016 Report Posted March 12, 2016 I'm with Nate. Most likely a loose clamp. Could have happened with any make.
HemiSam Posted March 12, 2016 Report Posted March 12, 2016 It will likely be a loose clamp, a bad thermostat ($20 part) or they overfilled it (unlikely). Can't imagine anything being clogged in a new vehicle. If I were local, I would help you with that short throw install. It is not a big deal. Hopefully they don't charge you more than 2 hours for labor. HS
VPI Posted March 12, 2016 Author Report Posted March 12, 2016 I would just trade up to a Ford GT if I was you. Better safe than sorry I say. 6

Dreadhead Posted March 12, 2016 Report Posted March 12, 2016 Decided that I want a fun little sport car and this was the most cost effective way to achieve that. It's also very good looking in my opinion. As predicted by many the coolant line clamp in the lower part of the car had not been pushed on hard enough and came off. 7
Dreadhead Posted March 12, 2016 Report Posted March 12, 2016 Did they detail the engine bay for you? The car looks great. Not perfectly but they did clean up. I asked twice and was assured it was cleaned but by the time I got there I just wanted to get it home so I let it go. 3
