postjack Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 My amp only has one set of inputs, and I'm getting really tired of pulling RCA's everytime I want to go from TT to CDP. Is there some kind of switch box I can buy I can put between my amp and my sources that will add convenience without sacrificing sound quality? It doesn't have to be pretty, just functional.
bhd812 Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 at the bar we use these... http://cgi.ebay.com/RADIO-SHACK-SOURCE-SWITCH-SELECTOR-ADCOM-NAD-ONKYO-JVC_W0QQitemZ170095469710QQcategoryZ14974QQcmdZViewItem not sure about the quality though.. can go the pricey Manley skipjack or have a diyer on here make you one maybe
tkam Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 You might also want to consider the LR 1 Line Router from Mapletree Audio
postjack Posted April 2, 2007 Author Report Posted April 2, 2007 You might also want to consider the LR 1 Line Router from Mapletree Audio Thats not an entirely bad price. I'd consider DIY but I haven't touched a soldering iron since I built a beige box in 6th grade. Or I could just wait until a buy a new amp and get one with multiple inputs. Its just that I'm happy with the ppx3 slam right now, and I have lots of great tubes for it.
Dusty Chalk Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 Aren't those called "preamps"? No, I'm kind of serious -- if I had to do something like that, I'd probably get a Musical Fidelity A3.2 -- that's the cheapest one on the used market.
n_maher Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 I think what postjack is looking for is a passive stage so that the only amplification would be via his headamp. Most traditional "preamps" have an active stage.
Nanoha Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 I need to go build one of those boxes sometime. With loop out, source switch, and amp switch with headphone jack. Perhaps even two jacks. Not sure how that would sound though. Any ideas?
