Wmcmanus Posted October 8, 2014 Author Report Posted October 8, 2014 That one was all on Posey. No way can he be looking for advice or consultation on that. It's an instinct play and he's probably safe 90% of the time in cases like that, so I think he did the right thing. Must have been a perfect bounce that allowed a quick and accurate throw.
TMoney Posted October 8, 2014 Report Posted October 8, 2014 I'm actually going to miss the Smoltz-Vasgersian announcing team. What a breath of fresh air they are. Smoltz is humble and easily relateable. Vasgersian calls a clean game and gets excited at the right times. They are so much nicer to listen to than the general awfulness of Joe Buck and Tim McDoofus. I thought Smoltz as the color-man was a nice change of pace from the gasbag that is our local color-man, Mike Krukow. Kruk is great for getting people in to the game, but his shtick wears thin after 15 years of watching Giants games.
Wmcmanus Posted October 9, 2014 Author Report Posted October 9, 2014 Joe Buck and McCarver are just way too full of themselves. Jack Buck was so good... but I kind of wish he wasn't because his legendary status is what made Joe's career possible... and speaking of annoying twerps, don't even get me started on Bob Costas! Agree about Smoltz. He's good and it doesn't have to be about him all of the time. Cal Ripkin does pretty well too.
dsavitsk Posted October 10, 2014 Report Posted October 10, 2014 My cousin has been re-added to the Oriole's roster. http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/orioles/blog/bal-orioles-add-lefthander-brian-matusz-to-alcs-roster-replacing-righthander-ubaldo-jimenez-20141010,0,2529743.story 2

This will make me feel better if the Orioles win the series. My KC blood has been stirred up a bit, so I've been pulling for them... but I'll be happy no matter what so long as the Cardinals don't win the World Series! Anyone but them!!! Go Giants... dsavitsk Posted October 10, 2014 Report Posted October 10, 2014 I generally like the underdog, and I definitely like small ball, but I am still bitter over 1985
shellylh Posted October 11, 2014 Report Posted October 11, 2014 (edited) Wish I could watch the Giants v Cards series. At least I'll get to watch the WS. Edited October 11, 2014 by shellylh
agile_one Posted October 12, 2014 Report Posted October 12, 2014 Hoping for a Giants vs Royals WS. Love the KC small ball, hustle, get 'er done style, and the fact that it's been a while for them. Giants, just cuz ... Grandpap's favorite team when they played at Polo Grounds way back in the day, and now solidarity with all my NorCal homies.
Wmcmanus Posted October 12, 2014 Author Report Posted October 12, 2014 I'm with you Gene and want to see KC vs. Giants, but now have a soft spot for the Orioles as well (or at least for the success of Brian Matusz and his very cool HC connection).
TMoney Posted October 12, 2014 Report Posted October 12, 2014 One down for the Giants, three to go. Can we change Pablo Sandoval's name to Senor Octobre? That was a balk, but thankfully the game wasn't close enough that it really mattered all that much. I kind of enjoyed the alternative broadcast, although I felt myself switch over the the regular broadcast early in the game. The alternative broadcast struggled early with focusing on the game action during high leverage situations, but they got quite a bit better as the game went on.
Wmcmanus Posted October 13, 2014 Author Report Posted October 13, 2014 That game had the Wong ending.
TMoney Posted October 13, 2014 Report Posted October 13, 2014 I'm trying to get some tickets for Wednesday or Thursday night, but damn are people ever asking a lot. For the price of 4 good seats I could practically go out and get a 70" TV.
Wmcmanus Posted October 14, 2014 Author Report Posted October 14, 2014 70" TV sounds like a better bet to me.
TMoney Posted October 14, 2014 Report Posted October 14, 2014 Day game? No problem! Fox Sports Go app working like a charm.
TMoney Posted October 14, 2014 Report Posted October 14, 2014 Phew. Did not want to lose that one. First game I've ever seen won by bunt-off.
Voltron Posted October 14, 2014 Report Posted October 14, 2014 Fuck yeah! Bunts, wild pitches, sacrifices, these Giants win in strange and wonderful ways. I'll take it. 2
skullguise Posted October 14, 2014 Report Posted October 14, 2014 Exciting game, even for this non-baseball-fan. Go Giants!
TMoney Posted October 15, 2014 Report Posted October 15, 2014 Congrats to KC. Hopefully a few days rest cools them off a bit.
agile_one Posted October 16, 2014 Report Posted October 16, 2014 Big one tonight, buddy. Classic October. Hope you are there.
Voltron Posted October 16, 2014 Report Posted October 16, 2014 Big one tonight, buddy. Classic October. Hope you are there. I'm here. Taking a toll but we're going to win!
agile_one Posted October 16, 2014 Report Posted October 16, 2014 Top of 7th was scary, but looking ok now. Hang in there, and get the W.
