Dear Headphone audiophiles,

I want to buy the best headphones for listening to metal music. I recently purchased sE electronics The EGG speakers with amplifier and have concluded that they have way too much bass. I was disappointed when I placed a AKG K240 headphone in my Focusrite Forte usb soundcard and heard tons of details in my favorite records that I had not previously heard. I love hearing all the tiny details the artists intended us to hear. From what I have researched, any speakers/headphones that are fantastic for classical music will likely be great for metal as well (clear highs, good mids, little bass). Basically, I need headphones that make me hear everything you can possibly hear in the following albums listed below. I do not need something that 'forgives' bad recording quality. I want to hear everything the artist recorded. Do not limit your advice based on price, I'm flexible about this.

Metal subgenres: folk, progressive, death, neoclassical, thrash, orchestral.

tl;dr, but I got as far as the subject title, so:

Stax SR007mk1 for home, if you can't use speakers.  JH16 for elsewhere, if you can't use speakers.

...also, I prefer the MK II for metal and rock'n'roll by a small margin.  And a lot of people swear by Gradoes.  Grados.  Gradoseses.  HF1 or HF2 or PS1.  Also, VTGs.

If you only want to go half-assed:

Klipsch corner horns.

If your room happens to lack the necessary corners for the K-horns you should get LaScala.

If your room does not happen to be large enough for the any of the above mentioned speakers, get a larger room.
