MexicanDragon Posted February 5, 2015 Report Posted February 5, 2015 Would it be more processor intensive to decode VBR FLAC over CBR? If so, that would make it easier to play on older and weaker devices, even if it takes up more space. **BRENT**
shellylh Posted February 10, 2015 Report Posted February 10, 2015 Signed back up with Tidal. The first 2 albums I looked to play weren't available.
shellylh Posted February 11, 2015 Report Posted February 11, 2015 Social Network by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross The Worse Things get, The Harder I Fight - Neko Case
MexicanDragon Posted February 11, 2015 Report Posted February 11, 2015 Search for "Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross" on Tidal. They come up as an artist together, but I was having an issue pulling up THAT one (it pulled them up individually, and I also favorited some NIN for work tomorrow). I'm not in love with the search on Tidal, but I usually find what I want (and only once or twice have I found it only to have it not streamable.) As far as Neko Case goes, here's the deluxe edition.https://listen.tidalhifi.com/album/21988886 Hope that halfway helps. **BRENT**
shellylh Posted February 11, 2015 Report Posted February 11, 2015 (edited) Oh right, the Neko Case I found but it said that I couldn't play it. I didn't realize there was another copy of the album that you could play. I also found some Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross but I couldn't find that particular album. shellylh Posted February 12, 2015 Report Posted February 12, 2015 Oops, accidentally left tidal playing all day and used up 32GB of data since 4/11 according to comcast. 2
jvlgato Posted February 13, 2015 Report Posted February 13, 2015 No clue you could even check your usage! I'll have to look into that... it's a little frightening though!
blessingx Posted February 17, 2015 Report Posted February 17, 2015 From Todd's recent email "Tidal is scheduled to start streaming MQA files sometime in the next 30 days!"
Dusty Chalk Posted February 17, 2015 Report Posted February 17, 2015 Oops, accidentally left tidal playing all day and used up 32GB of data since 4/11 according to comcast. Yeezh. If I did that on my phone, I'd be 30GB over my limit, at $15/GB, and 29 days left of the month to tread water on. I actually have Spotify set to only play over wi-fi or download. Need to see if Tidal does the same.
shellylh Posted February 21, 2015 Report Posted February 21, 2015 No Ani Difranco albums on Tidal, many on spotify.
manaox2 Posted February 22, 2015 Report Posted February 22, 2015 I've used 6gb on TIDAL while driving in just one day. Not safe for those not on unlimited plans. I've noticed tracks are not guaranteed to be there from day to day. I've gotten used to tracks disappearing from the Tuesday 10 playlists.
Dusty Chalk Posted February 23, 2015 Report Posted February 23, 2015 You know, I noticed that, but that that rigorously (only subconsciously). :/
blessingx Posted March 4, 2015 Report Posted March 4, 2015 Not so fast Jay Z... http://www.engadget.com/2015/03/04/jay-z-tidal-blocked/ 1
Torpedo Posted March 4, 2015 Report Posted March 4, 2015 I've been using Tidal for a few days, I got a 30 days trial, an offer they started to promote their business opening in Spain. When it sounds it sounds very good, but it skips a lot, and sometimes it won't play. So the app tells you to stop using HiFi and switch to high quality instead, since they're having problems, which sounds more or less like Spotify. Are you having this skipping problem in the US too? I wonder if they're getting more users than they expected.
Hopstretch Posted March 4, 2015 Report Posted March 4, 2015 My guess is it's your home network that is the bottleneck. I only have issues with TIDAL streaming when someone else in the house is chewing up bandwidth. 1
blessingx Posted March 4, 2015 Report Posted March 4, 2015 I'm pretty sure Tidal is having some issues on their end. I have problems, especially with starting song loads on both home and company networks. Rarely have timeouts after it starts... if it does.
Torpedo Posted March 4, 2015 Report Posted March 4, 2015 My guess is it's your home network that is the bottleneck. I only have issues with TIDAL streaming when someone else in the house is chewing up bandwidth. Not really, I can watch Berliner Philharmoniker concerts in HD without a single glitch.
MexicanDragon Posted March 4, 2015 Report Posted March 4, 2015 Have you tried through phone? I do HiFi downloads over phone and don't usually have issues. Are you using Chrome? **BRENT**
Torpedo Posted March 4, 2015 Report Posted March 4, 2015 I've tried both, Chrome and the Tidal App for OSX. I haven't installed it on the iPhone or iPad, I'm not planning on streaming lossless with my lean 2GB monthly 4G quota.
MexicanDragon Posted March 4, 2015 Report Posted March 4, 2015 No. Install on phone and download the albums you want at home on Wi-Fi for offline use. You can select a tab just for the offline stuff you have downloaded. Try that and see what you think. **BRENT**
Torpedo Posted March 5, 2015 Report Posted March 5, 2015 I know, but that's not the way I intend to use Tidal, I want it to work in my Mac to feed the office system. The Mac is connected to a W4S or Mytek DSD and this one feeds the YBA and the speakers, so not really interested on lossless playback on the phone, I use the iTouch for music on the go.
Hopstretch Posted March 5, 2015 Report Posted March 5, 2015 I apologize -- it seems like quite a few people are having the same experiences that you are. There's a pretty detailed thread here (haven't read it all yet, hoping there might be some insight within): http://www.computeraudiophile.com/f22-networking-networked-audio-and-streaming/official-tidal-hifi-streaming-issues-thread-22260/
